I understand people like Philip Defranco, iJustine etc etc etc make an absolute FORTUNE on Youtube.

But how do they do this, I assume through ads on youtube? But iJustine's blog has very little monetization.

Just starting this thread for a discussion of these Youtube stars. They make a living by making videos of what they love, doing random things, just being stupid etc! I think it's fantastic.

Perhaps we can brainstorm various things that you could make videos about that would get lots of views and compile a list of them here as a resource for anyone that wants to perhaps try and get some following on Youtube and get an income making videos!

    It's what the videos lead to that makes them money. Being partners on youtube bring em very little money.

    Now to get views, it's easyer than it seems. People are usually attracted to humorous videos (Youtube viewer majority).

    Also, anything controdicting will get views... kinda just the rule.

    I for instance used to make videos with video games that were quite successful before it got saturated with amature videos. Ideas though;

    Comedy sketch

    Informational for anything

    tutorials

    Anything with some luck.

    I actually just read an article about how much the major youtube players make.

    Here it is:

    They also get by on endorsements. For example, Phillip DeFranco has a series of videos which are sponsored by State Farm Insurance. Basically, he just plugs State Farm by saying "Brought to you by..."
