What if Domain Name Company Screws you?

Okay. The best you could do is to create/ buy a new domain name & upload your files to that domain.

But what about the tons of effort, reputation and credibility of previous "gone" domain??

Thanks

Domain name registrars don't have the ultimate control. ALL domain names are controlled by one governing agency - ICANN. Domain name registrars are simply "agents". If your registrar should drop off the face of the earth, your domain is still in good hands.

Anyway you should be careful which domain registrar to choose.

There was a post somewhere about scamming registrar. They did register domains normally, but when it comes to renewal - people paid for it, but they kept money to them. In result domain was not renewed and web-sites wen down. Many many businesses suffered from this...

What do you mean by "previous gone domain"? What precisely do you want that
    company to do for you?

The more specifics your query, maybe the more specifics the answers. Some might
not exactly be acceptable, though, but...you might get answers.

I interpret this thread in a way that the OP asks what happens in case a Domain Name Company Screws you.

You can file a complaint against them at the official authority but that can take a while.

If that doesn't help you have to start from zero again (in terms of google ranking). Search for another domain, change your themes, re-upload your content. Do the article marketing again...

That's why it is important to choose a trustworthy domain registrar. Imagine the pain of loosing 100 domains only because you saved $ 0.50 / year on each of them!

Apologies for Jumbling up the words. It should have been "previous But now gone domain" ....

My main question is What if the company thru which I have registered my domain name "abc.com" , they do not allow me to continue with "abc.com",
What can I do in that case??

What to do depends on what "state" the domain name is now in.

        Has it expired?

Has there been any attempt to renew or transfer it to another provider before
        that happened?

Is it still registered to you or someone else?

I realize that's probably a lot of questions. But again, its current "state" might
indicate what your next course of action will be.

        Good luck.

What is not being said here? Did you allow the domain to expire?

If I took the posts at face value - you are claiming a registrar told you you cannot keep a domain you have registered.

That would be very strange - so I have to wonder if your complaint has something to do with an EXPIRED registration.
