Best Way To Attract Affiliates?

I opened a Share-A-Sale affiliate account 2 years ago and after about 6 months forgot about it since no sales were coming from the affiliates (mostly coupon sites signed up). So I logged in and the account is still open so I want to make use of it in 2011. How it is it BEST to attract new affiliates in my niche? Coupon places are ok but I want a target affiliate who can bring in target vistors and sales...What is the best approach!

If you have a core IM list, turning those into affiliates is often a good idea. If this isn't possible, starting a new list that shows people how to do things the way you want them to market your product (in other words, helping them learn) then releasing your affiliate program to those involved is great.

I do have a list..only about 110 people so far. Lets say im looking outside my list. I know first off it could be emailing the owner of a website BUT should I do a squeeze page just for affiliate sign ups? Or something around this level?

To be honest, I think the best way is to go to industry events like ASW or AffCon and meet with the serious producers and networks in person.

That's what I've been doing. It's better when everyone knows who you are.

Use your traffic and purchased customers. A Happy customer can sell a lot more then someone on the outside.

True but a lot may not have there own website. This affiliate program is used with banners. I suspect they could use text links but I have to re read my terms. Im looking on how to get targetd websites within my niche (and a bit off) to start. Really want to ramp this up for the new year!

You can attract and keep them only by having a very good, non-leaky, professionally written sales page which converts well. There's no substitute for it. (And a good product, to which people are willing to attach their names and reputations helps, too).

The most successful affiliate programs offer a lot of affiliate tools. You should offer keywords, promo emails, banners, articles, web content, and even an affiliate guide on how to promote your product successfully.

Many of the affiliates that you pick up will not be marketing Guru's. You may need to do a little teaching in the process and show them how to be successful with your product. Give them a step by step, day to day guide as to what they should do and accomplish.

      That's one view.

There's a rather different one, too.

Both are discussed in this thread (the whole thread's worth reading).
