The Anti Guru Post By Michael Jordan Himself

Ok, I'm not Michael Jordan but this video is of him talking about some important principles that I believe most gurus in the internet marketing industry (as well as most other industries) should be telling their students.

But before sharing the video with you, let me share with you quickly my personal story so you understand the context.

When I got started in internet marketing about 4 years ago, a good friend introduced it to me since he was already doing it for a number of years. He'd reach some level of success and was simply showing me how to use the internet to market my mortgage services (at the time).

It opened my eyes to this new world where money was being made "easily" and "quickly" simply by having a website on the internet. So, I ran out to purchase some products about the secrets to creating websites that sell automatically or whatever.

Then I found out that it wasn't only about having a website, it was also about having a product. On to purchase my next ebook and video course.

So, I wrote one. Yes, I physically wrote an ebook since I didn't know how "simple" it was to use private label rights content (I'll get back to this in a moment).

After about 3 months I now had my own website and ebook ready to go. After weeks of waiting for the money to pour in, I found out that I needed traffic to my website. Another couple hundred dollars out of my pocket to learn about getting traffic.

Well, as things moved on, I was able to sell 3 ebooks at the height of my "internet success".

But I knew it must have been me since all these other people that I never heard of before entering the IM market were making loads of cash without working more than 4 hours a week.

Meanwhile, I was buying product after product trying to get it right. I thought I was missing something that these guys were able to "discover" and I had to find by cracking the code to every ebook, video course, audio course, and home study course I purchased.

What I discovered wasn't any secret to success, it was that I had quickly been sucked into the latest and greatest money making methods that I heard about.

When one path didn't bring the quick results that I was promised and were obviously proven by the paypal and clickbank screen captures, I jumped onto another. Then another, and another...

Does this sound like anyone you know? Maybe anyone you know PERSONALLY?

Anyway, sorry for the ramblings but here's the point. The secret to success is not simply seeing the results of these supposed gurus and wanting only those results, the secret is actually doing the work it takes to reach the results that you now want.

Product sellers and marketers are definitely responsible for this crisis of constant indebtedness from success driven consumers (I've been guilty myself of wanting the latest courses).

However, we must also take personal responsibility for the success we achieve, or frankly, don't.

After almost 3 years of juggling between methods for making money with internet marketing, I finally decided to focus on one way and built a real business out of it. That's when I finally was able to make my business profitable.

As for my first 3 years; maybe I was only making excuses after all!

Check out the video and share what you think

Did you really just blame the current financial crises on marketers???

The problem is lack of sound money management.

Did you miss the following line where he said...

"However, we must also take personal responsibility for the success
      we achieve, or frankly, don't..."

Absolutely not. What I am saying though is that most people trying to achieve financial independence through internet marketing are focusing on the wrong thing.

They are told of the great opportunities and seeing the financial rewards that marketers present to them but they completely dismiss the part that requires personal commitment and hard work.

The video is saying something very similar. It is Michael Jordan saying "Maybe I painted the wrong picture for you" but ultimately saying there's a lack of personal responsibility for success.

He ends clearly by saying "Or maybe, you were just making excuses".

    Very powerful in my opinion.
