Is bum marketing still effective?

I want to start by doing this, but I've recently been reading a lot about these article directories acting up, like banning accounts and deleting articles. . Don't know how true it is. Would love to start sending in 20-30 articles a day

Agreed. Focus on quality content rather than 100s of spun low quality articles.

Bum Marketing is just about the only way I do things. I don't like hundreds of crap articles or automated stuff. I would rather write everything myself and submit articles and do backlinks by hand. Quality is key though. Bum marketing pays all my bills and is the reason and the way I started with internet marketing and one of the easiest pays to make money. Bum marketing is more than articles you know.

Of course it is..You must consider building atleast a simple linkwheel in your campaign for you to get more traffic though...
I make my money thru bum marketing and its the easiest way to make money once you know how to do it

"Bum" marketing in the ooriginal sense was about writing a ton of articles and keep submitting. AFAIK it no longer is as effective as it used to be at one time. But the feedback that I see on this thread so far is about the more regular article marketing (not what the original bum marketing was defined to be by Travis Sago - the inventor of the method). Article marketing as mentioned above definitely works even today, but the "bum" days in the literal sense are probably gone.

Whatever Travis is doing it works... He made a TON sales for one of my products last week, I'd say he's doing something right.

I'd never heard of Travis (or Bum Marketing)because I work primarily outside the IM niche, but I checked one of my clickbank accounts and he did pretty dang good for himself (and for me).

Bum Marketing has a new fan here.

Travis has a very good email list he uses now, more powerful then bum marketing. He is trusted though and interesting on how he works his list. Bumming still works.

I notice you just so happen to be selling linkwheels in your sig fella. Do us a favor, keep it to yourself next time buddy. This guy asked a question and wants an answer to his question, not to hear you promoting "linkwheels" you create. Or anyone else either for the matter I'm sure.

OP: Yes, Bum marketing is still effective in my experience and apparently a lot of others as well..

Are you using articles to send traffic to squeeze page, clinkbank product etc..

        Here's the process simply.

1.Choose a good converting CB product.
        2.Buy a Related domain name.
3.Set up Squeeze page giving away free report.
        4. Writing 10-12 auto responder messages(Out Source)
5.Research the best keywords using keyword tool.(At least 30 keywords)
6.Write good content rich articles(Out Source) and submit to Ezinearticles,Article dashboard etc..and get traffic to my squeeze page.
        7. Write and submit a press release to free PR sites.

Building a list is the most important thing.. As it's been said 1000 times "The money is in the list"

Once you earn some money reinvest in more articles and Press releases.

Definitely still works, that's how I build all of my lists. Just focus on writing what your target audience wants to read, not how many articles you can do a day.

In my opinion: Yes, this would provide anyone with great benefits, provided the "bum" writes content which aims to inform, educate, entertain and persuade target readers into taking action beneficial both for them and for the "bum" author. What is the action? Go to the linked page in the resource box. What is the next action? For the reader to do something on that linked page which would provide both the target reader and the "bum" with benefits. What are actions which can provide the target reader and the "bum" with benefits? Sign up to the "bum"'s mailing list and download free products, software or anything, fill out a CPA offer, click a relevant ad, buy an affiliate product/service, buy a product/service of the "bum", bookmark the page, link to the page, share the page with the reader's friends/colleagues/relatives, share the page on forums and blogs, leave a testimonial or comment, sign up for a membership subscription and contact the "bum" for possible JVs among others which I can't think of at this time.

Quality articles will never get banned. Make sure your articles have some good information for the readers. Article directories will always need articles which offer relevant and good information to their readers. Bum marketing (article marketing) is still very effective.

Yup it works for me! But like everyone else says, you need to have unique content. I find that submitting a bunch of spun articles doesn't get me ranked very high in the search engines and they aren't "user friendly" because spinning them takes the natural feeling out of the articles and they sound like they were written by robots.

I personally like to write all of my articles by hand. This way I can have full control of what I am saying and I also find that writing high quality articles generates more sales. I normally use my spun articles only for building backlinks to my authority sites.

A helpful thread for a bum such as I.
Having just come across the Bum Method and Mr.Sago I was curious as to the veracity of his written words, this certainly offers a positive reflection, thank-you all.

Content is very vital. Remember that you're trying to get clients to do business with you and a not low quality article defeats this purpose of article marketing. Make sure to create high quality ones or at least those that will be helpful for the clients.

Yes. I am proof it works. It's a GREAT way to kick start any online
marketing career because the one thing it does better than making
    money...

is create a sense of BELIEF.

Belief that money CAN be made online, and belief that the right hard
work DOES pay off when done right.

It makes you want to work harder when you get a sale or two a day
on auto-pilot. Makes you want MORE. Makes you want to take it to
the NEXT level -- building a list.

When you get immediate sales from bumming, it inspires you to take
more risks you wouldn't have taken before. Taking more risks gives
you more opportunities to fail, which also give you opportunities to
    succeed.

Bum Marketing is wonderful, but it should not be used exclusively by
itself. It should be a stepping stone to even bigger things that are
far more worthwhile -- as I said, building a list to drive traffic instead
of doing it manually all the time is a good next step to take.

Luckily, it kind of comes "naturally" when you SEE first hand what a
bit of success selling affiliate products taste like.

As far as the crap you're reading about article directories deleting
accounts and such...yea, it happens -- it's a part of the game --
but you get to decide if you will let it be your EXCUSE...or your DRIVE.

I, too, was frigthend by the same fears as you. In fact, it stopped me
for months from doing it, until I decided to be a leader and choose to
take the word of people like Travis and follow success instead of failure...

    and the strangest thing happens:

The fear of your articles being taken down is mostly unfounded. Yes,
you will have a few articles taken down, yes you will have an account
shut down for one reason or the other...but guess what? I, and people
like me STILL make good money doing it because they are problems
    that are LESS than ourselves.

    And for the record...

20-30 articles a day is not realistic. It's a nice round number to tell your
self is POSSIBLE because it sounds achievable...and maybe for one day
of focused work it is (assuming you're writing them by yourself)...but it
    is NOT consistent.

10 - 15 articles a day is about the most I learned any sane humanbeing
can handle by themselves in one day.

Everyone you see here with a link in their sig is BUM marketing. If that answers your title question.

Yes, it still works like a charm. Just make sure you have original, quality articles. Plus, with bum marketing you don't have to spend money for webhosting or advertising. So, start writing several articles now and do it every day so you'll begin building a steady and substantial income.
