And when you sleep I work. Most of you guys are from US and in order for me to service you I need to stay awake for long hours into the night. I see this because posts start to thrive in the evening and all the best respectable warriors appear on the forum. What can a guy do? |

I hear you Quilst !! Being in the UK I suffer the same problem. A lot of my customers are based in the US so I quite often have some very late nights (such as now!) Tim |

It looks like you both will have to start sleeping during the day, and working at night. Dixie |

In my experience, most customers don't expect you to be available 365 x 24 x 7. After all, they're not available 365 x 24 x 7 for their customers. In other words, people understand that you're not a robot. Sure, you can offer more (but maybe not better) service if you never sleep. No-one really expects you to do that. Be realistic. Be reasonable. Set expectations. Offer great service when you're working and tell people when they can expect a response when you're not. You'll find that the vast majority of people respect your choices. Cheers, Neil |

Help Desk, email, forum You can let your customers know that you are in a different time zone and will be answering support issues during particular hours. I have never had a problem with my international customers. |

I am in UK and once before i went to bed got up 8 hours later, checked my email and someone had bought a product, emailed to say they couldn't download it, mailed again and said if i didn't sort it they would start a Paypal dispute, Started a dispute and escalated it to a claim, all while i was in bed asleep!

Maybe put a message on your order page explaining how to contact you if they have a problem ordering and when you'll respond. It's all about setting expectations. Cheers, Neil

Hey Neil, You hit the nail on the head..... SET EXPECTATIONS...... People do panic when things aren't explained properly upfront... When they clearly understand that you will respond in a certain timeframe the anxiety is removed.... Then when you get back to them earlier than expected, you are over-delivering.... Regards Greg

You know, I could take a contrarian point of view, and suggest that all of you warriors in Australia, and the UK for example become exalted gurus, and leave us Americans wondering how early we need to get up in order to exchange electrons with you!!!!!

For me it's not so much about the support side of things (I have a support desk etc.) but it's just that a lot of the people I like to communicate with often don't come online to talk to or do business with untill what is quite late in the evening for me. But it's been that way for years and is way of life for me now, so not too much of a hardship ! Tim

I feel for you man. I'm also working during night time, at the moment I finally made some adjustments and it goes well for me now. I just need to drink coffee and sleep one hour (doing this in my break time) that would bring my energy back and be proactive in my job.
