How To Structure a Proper Pre-Launch?

Hey Fellow Warriors-

So I have a product in the works. I plan to have it complete in roughly 1 month (non-IM niche).

I was wondering what I should be doing in the meantime to start getting the word out.

For example, should I create some quick landing page and try to send traffic there? (via article marketing, youtube and such) Or are pre-launches unnecessary in non-IM niches?

Any helpful tips and insights would be greatly appreciated.

What you need is JV partners. People with lists already in your niche who would be willing to "get the word out" for you.

There are many ways to go about this but one way is to look up a few of your keywords and email the owners of the top 10 websites on the first page of Google and Bing. To get any responses you will likely have to do 50 to 100.

Pre-launches can be good but don't get them on your list too far out from launch - one of the best parts of a product launch is the momentum. Everything flows from one thing to the next.

It depends on what niche you're in. One thing I did when I was a few months out was to build up some facebook fan pages targeted to my niche so by the time launch came, I had two fan pages with over 16,000 people in them - and that's all free traffic.

Definitely also start researching your niche and find other people who have similar/complimentary products to yours that would be willing to do a promotion for you.

  Have you contacted any bloggers yet? I would highly recommend forming relationships with that...
  
  Relationships do take time though...they will know who YOU are when you make a habit of continually commenting with high quality comments on their blog....
  
  ...who knows, maybe there's a better way...that's what I did, and it worked out quite well ($10,000+ in sales within the first few days...)

  When you contact blogs or JVs, what do you usually offer them as an incentive? A percentage of the sales?

  I didn't come right out and ask. Instead, getting a blogger to even look at my product required nothing short of months of loyal commenting and going the extra mile to help him, his blog, and his users out. It's certainly not an easy thing to pull off....but, I looked at the growth trends of one particular blogger and I KNEW if I could get him to endorse my product, it would go a very long way...
  
  It was worth the time spent nurturing and fostering the relationship.
  
  Of course, someone may know a better way....that's just what worked for me....
