If you are looking for article writing then the cheapest you may get without compromising quality should be around 20$ for 1000 words article. But for review it can be high and may double. Review writing is more expensive than article.

it depends on what kind of quality you want

it you outsource it on freelancer.com, there are lots of writers willing to do it for you at $20 i believe

and if you want a really good writer, it may cost you around $50

$30 for a book review that is 800 - 1000 words in length. This is a reasonable price and you can double this amount for your employer. Outsourcing is really a great means to cut some burden. I sometimes rely on it but I do most of the tasks with my own efforts.

I have a site where there are book reviews and this is what I pay for 750 words. Over the years, I have found it is the minimum if you want something decent.

It's just not about the word count--someone must read the book, think about it, then write the review. Too many so-called book reviewers just do a synopsis of the book, and that is just a cheesy excuse for a real review. Worse, many offshore writers (and others) try to do a review based on other reviews at Amazon or elsewhere. Such reviews are virtually useless.

Keep in mind that in addition to the payment, you need to supply the book at no charge, and traditionally the reviewer gets to keep it.

Don't forget when you outsource something like this you're not just paying for the writing time, which might be minimal. You're also paying for the reading time. If you're going to provide notes, perhaps a rough draft of the review (because presumably you've read the book) then you can expect to pay a bit less.

There is a real easy way to find out.

First, head over to here : Warriors For Hire
Next, start opening threads that start with Content:
Finally, read their rates, if posted, and start contacting writers asking quotes.

This method is foolproof, as it leaves no room for guesswork. By doing it this way, you will have an accurate answer within a day or so.

$25-30 for 1 article of 800-1000 words? Wow you need to lower your costs. I have used vWorker several times to get articles and press releases written and I request 500 words for $5. So if you wanted a 1000 word article written you shouldn't need to pay any more than $10. The most I have spent in one hit was $35, and that was for 7 articles. They were of exceptional quality.
Always, and I must repeat ALWAYS request samples of people work before you accept them to write for you.

This is your particular experience. There are all sorts of clients who will pay various rates for quality writing. You assume that everyone online will only pay $5 per article. You're mistaken.

You may not like the idea of a $25 article, but there are hard working writers out there who do get paid this amount. The warrior who mentioned this rate is not wrong for offering his opinion, and neither are you. There are clients at both the lower and higher end of the scale.

Exactly, Fun to Write. Writing is like everything else, and you get what you pay for. Unfortunately, many IM people don't know effective writing when they see it. They only care about cost, word count and key words, and as a result they offer little value to the people who land on their page.

It always amazes me that IM people will anguish over sales copy writing, but will accept trash for article content. Then they wonder why their conversion rates are so low.

Effective writing costs money. While I'm sure there are some good offshore writers, I think IM people make a big mistake when they try to get cheap offshore writers to reach a US audience. The offshore people do not usually understand American idiomatic English (though they say they do) and that is a sales killer. An article should be written by someone in the same country/culture as the product/service buyer.
