Advice for Google News site owners

Does anyone know where there is good information on operation and monetization of Google News sites other than the expensive Google Red Carpet option?

    Hey There,

Google Red Carpet is by fellow Warrior E. Brian Rose, it's a good course that you may want to check out. However, if you want to get some good info, look around the forum for stories on how others got into Google News.

    The search option works here

Thanks Caleb. I'll give it a shot despite the price.

If you've already been accepted as a Google News Publisher, monetizing can be done in a number of ways, from selling press releases, advertising space, Adsense, CPA ads, etc.

One mistake I see in accepted news sites is people go nuts with Adsense blocks, pasting them all over the site and in the content. Google does not want the content portion of the post to contain ads. I've seen people put two 300x250 Adsense ads at the top of the post, along with ads in the sidebar, making it look like a Made for Adsense site.

I've also seen people run CPA Make Money Online courses on the site. It's well known that Google does not think these Make Money Online landing pages offer value to their readers, so they're not likely to like them on GNews sites.

I've seen them literally plaster ads all over the site making it look ridiculous. These are short-sighted techniques that will most likely get your site de-indexed from GNews pretty quickly.

Take a look at the big GNews publishers and see how they monetize as far as ads go. You won't see the garish display of ads and Adsense that some newer publishers try to get away with. A Gnews site should be professional looking ... not plastered everywhere you look with ads.

You can also use a service like InfoLinks, but thus far, I haven't made much with it and am considering not using it.

In the GNews guidelines, it specifically says that GNews does not want content that primarily promotes your own products or affiliate products. That means, in short, that it wants the content to be news ... as an example of what won't fly .... a bunch of colon cleansing articles with colon cleansing ads on the site or a bunch of Make Money Online ads with the same type of ads on the site or affiliate links in the content.
