Profile Back Links for better SE Ranking?

Hello Everyone,

I just came across a concept "Profile Back Links" from high PR pages, it is said that it helps not only to increase back links but also helps to increase ranking drastically that too within short time?

I am not sure if this is true fact, I tried to search through internet but I didn't get the exact answer. Almost every one either referred to some software or other service provider website. There isn't much details about whether this work or not and if yes does it counts as spam technique etc., are not given.

Have any one know and have tried this? If yes is there any real benefit you have received? I even saw couple of Warriors here who offer this services, but am reluctant to try it.

Can anyone suggest and provide me the true feedback?

    I can tell you at one time many people were saying it worked very well for them, but later some of those same people were saying it wasn't as good as it use to be. I tried it and It didn't seem to hurt, but didn't seem to help that much either.

    I did it myself and I don't doubt there are people that sell that service that can do a better job of it than I can, but doing it myself didn't seem to help move my site up any.

      Does relevancy of the theme really matter that much for backlinks?

      I thought relevancy matters only if you are trying to get some traffic from the site same as your niche. For backlinks you could get some links on high quality sites, whether related to the niche or not, correct me if I'm wrong.

        The way that such "services" are sold is typically very deceptive.

        Their wording normally professes that the service offered is "high-PR backlinks" when in reality it's pr-0 backlinks on sites whose home page has a high PR - a very, very different proposition altogether.

        In other words, there's usually a significant mismatch between the service described and the service provided. If that's not deceptive marketing, I don't know what is.

        It matters to the value of the backlink, too. According to Google, and according to the books I've read on SEO (only a few of them, and second-hand sources, of course), anyway. It certainly seems to me, from my own limited SEO experience, that context-relevant backlinks are worth far more to my sites.

        You can - I don't say they're valueless, of course. But I believe they don't compare at all with links from context-relevant sites.

    Forum profiles helps to rank well for new web sites. But it also a reason to get "Google Dance" several times. It's better to make these kind of backlinks for short term money sites. You better to consider about it ROI.

    Alexa - I'm not sure it is deceptive. Remember that the PR we can "see" is not the whole story. Also the higher PR a site, usually the higher the TrustRank of that site, so you are linking from a potentially trusted hub if you target carefully.

    The bigger issue with profile links now is getting Google to take notice of them in the first place.

    I've had a love hate relationship with profile links for a while now, I tried them , they seemed to work then i realized that they were very poor quality. I can get far better results from mainstream promotion techniques.

    I've pretty much got all my promotion automated (or at the minimum semi automated) now, and results are far far better than with profile links.

    Profile backlinks from high ranking websites have helped me, but you need to also get other types of backlinks. Links from article directories and blogs have been very effective too.
