Text to PDF I am probably being dumb

So I have a 4,000 word MLM microsoft word document that I want to put into PDF format and sell. I have looked through all the text to pdf sites in google and they all work and I can get the pdf up but I am confused at how the URL would be made? Because it is always http:// document . pdf

Sorry that might not make sense but I am a little confused.

    Yes it will be http://www.yourdomain.com/yourfile.pdf

You can get people to go direct (e.g. link from an email) or add a link from one of your pages. Or they can type it in. Just as versatile as a normal URL.

    How I do it:

    1. Use CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com - freeware) to "PRINT" the file to a PDF.
    2. Then use FTP or File Upload provided by myhost to get it on thewebsite.

    Hi Tom,

Once it's done, it will be a PDF file.

Then, when you upload it to your server for people to download, the extension will automatically be whatever you saved it as on your hard drive + .pdf

So, if you're saving it as tom_buck_mlm_guide, by default it will keep that title when you upload it. The .pdf extension will be done automatically (or whatever file type it happens to be, .zip, for example).

Then the address would be http://www. yoursite . com/tom_buck_mlm_guide.pdf

Give it try with a test run, and you'll see how it works.

    Hope that helps.

    All the best,
    Michael

Okay thanks But I do not have a domain and hosting at the moment (that tight on money) Is there any way I can create a PDF URL another way? Is sending the PDF via email considered bad or spammy, or is it okay?

You could always upload it to media fire but that would be a very ghetto way of doing it. Depends what your plans are with the whole thing TBH.

Tom, if money is really that tight, just buy a cheap 99 cent .info domain from Godaddy and get Hostgator's 1 cent special (for the first month) and place your PDF up there. If you're serious about your business, surely you can spend slightly more than 1 dollar to get it going the first month??

EDIT: if you really want to cut down on costs even further, you could even do away with hosting and just redirect your .info domain to one of the free sites mentioned, i.e. weebly or webs

Tom, was the PDF that you're having, going to be sent out for FREE? Or it's going to be a paid product that you wanted to sell to others?

in this case you can try Weebly.com I like it because it's so easy to use, it has build in shopping chart kind of function, and it could let you set a password to a page or post, and it could also HOST your pdf file! Maybe you can simply zip the file before uploading.

        Hope this helps.

With no site/hosting, I dont think there is anything wrong with sending it out manually via email.

When I create pdf's I use openoffice. You could copy/paste your text into openoffice and then export it directly as a pdf. You would then have the pdf directly on your computer and could send it via email as an attachment whenever you wanted.

Yeah, create your doc in open office and it allows you to save directly as a pdf. Sending it via email is fine. Be sure there is something to buy inside that doc! A nice paypal button or two or three...

Exactly what I was going to say! Open Office is the shiznit!

I would go with weebly.com for your website problem! Weebly is way cool and they have lots of upgrades if you decide to get your own site/domain down the road.
