How do you create a PDF download link?

Hey guys, just wondering how you create a page that will prompt a download of a PDF file on Wordpress.

I tried uploading it to the Media library, but then the direct link just links to the PDF in the browser. I want the user to be able to download it to their computer.

Thanks,

Matt

What you can do is before uploading the PDF -> archive it and upload it in .zip format
That way it won't open up in the browser first

Or you can just put something like this next to the *link* <== (Right Click And Save As)
That way people will know to save the file first to their computer and then open it.

    hope that helps

The reason why it opens up in your browser is because you either have Acrobat Reader or another pdf reader plugin for your browser installed. If that happens to a customer they can simply click on the File -> Save As and save it to their desktop.

Or as mentioned compress it into a zip file (you can get 7-zip for free from 7-zip.org) and instead of adding it to your media collection, upload it to a directory on your site and then give your visitors to the link. So the link would end up being http://www.yourdomainname.com/direct...nzipformat.zip **Do not click on click**
