HubPages, Blogger, Squidoo, Wordpress.com

Hi guys,

I am a total noob when it comes to making money online. I understand IM concepts but haven't applied any yet and have yet to make a single dime.

I am going the route of affiliate marketing using Amazon, Clickbank, CJ, and PayDotCom to start making some money. Quick question: Which do you find to be bringing you the most income with free hosting: HubPages, Blogger, or Squidoo? Also, which one gets indexed fastest in Google? Which one is best for page ranking? I want to start out making money without investing in hosting first. After making decent income, then I will spend money to get hosting and start my own blog with Wordpress.org.

I guess I shouldn't include Wordpress.com for making money. I have read you are really not suppose to put any advertising on Wordpress.com blogs. Is this correct? Also, after signing up, it is totally limited. There's no way you can add plugins and you have to pay $29.97 to remove their advertising. So, you can't make money using Wordpress.com? Are there any work-around solutions for this?

Also, please recommend me sites (article directories, etc) for free marketing that really drives good traffic to affiliate pages above (Squidoo, Blogger, HubPages). What do you think of Craigslist, Google Base, and USFreeAds? Which are the best article directories to post?

Thanks. I appreciate all responses.

Chris

    Chris,

Your statement here gives me a good indication that you're not confident in your plans. I would take some more time this week to research and develop your plan. If you want to build something that is lasting and long term, you'll need to invest some time and money. Web hosting is very, very cheap now days and having your own domain will give you more control, more options and better ranking down the road.

I have hubpages, squidoo lenses and such out there, and they can be useful tools to an extent, but no one is ever going to offer to buy your squidoo lense. Tis very morning I had an offer to buy one of my domains. I'm not saying this to brag, but I can tell you that no one has ever asked to purchase advertising on one of my hubpages, let alone buy it... because ultimately I don't own it.

There are hundreds (if not thousands) of ways to make money in this industry. Start somewhere and experiment. It will take time, so be prepared for a journey.

Have you even tried to sell a Squidoo Lens? Many Squidoo lenses have been sold...

"I can tell you that no one has ever asked to purchase advertising on one of my hubpages"

Why would they? They can target Hubs (or lenses) with their own Adwords campaign....of which you share revenue on....

They ARE paying to advertise on those hubs, and, when they "click", you earn an impression based % of that advert click.

I'll throw this out since nobody ever mentions it.

There are a lot of free hosts available that provide you with a fully functional cpanel and everything else you'd get with a paid host. If you want to jump into something like using wordpress it's an option.

You don't necessarily need to use one of the fisher price 2.0 sites.

You really need to invest in a domain and hosting.. Or you can sell products by paying the fee here on Warrior Forums. I'm glad I did

I agree that you should invest in a domain and hosting and then use Squidoo and Hubpages and others as tools for backlinking.

Although I know you probably don't want to spend any money right now, but long term it really is better if you can get your own domain on your own hosting.

But to answer your question as far as which is best - in my experience Hubpages gets indexed a little quicker and ranks well, Squidoo can often rank well too.

I personally prefer Squidoo and HubPages. I have had very good results with both especially Squidoo. Squidoo also ranks very well in Yahoo and Bing search engines. Writing articles and backlinking to your personal website or web2.0. site will send you quick traffic.

But I would also advice that you get your own domain name and also backlink to it. It gives you more control, freedom and safety just in case Squidoo decides to stop your account.

Well I suggest that you save up some money and start your own blog. That's what I did so you can do it too.

I would start some Hubs. Google seem to favor Hubpages more than Squidoo. Forget about blogger, I strongly suggest you save up some money and host on your own WordPress Blog...

If you want to start driving some traffic to your blog, you can start on Forums and ezines. You can also comment on other blogs that's similar to your niche.

yea, as you said wordpress never allows advertising if u dont use ur own domain and hosting.
with blogger and hub pages, best is google adsense as i understand. But its better to start your own blog and do something even at the begining, so with time your blog will become popular if u have good content, then u will be making money from it

Hubpages has a good page rank and when you write an article for the site it usually gets indexed quickly and the article gets a good ranking in the search engines.Writing articles for Hubpages is a way to make money reasonably quick and it is also a good place to link back to your own blog.Other revenue sharing sites I recommend are Infobarrel.com and Snipsly.com.
