Press Release or Article?

Hello Warriors,

Can you tell me which one is better in getting traffic, a press release or a article posted on a article directory?

I currently have 1 live article on ezine,it also appears on my blog and my squidoo page. Do i need to spin this article and post to other article directories or can i post the exact same article to the other directories?

Appreciate some advice on this.

cheers
Terry

A press release is better only if you write about something pretty amazing and worthy of press distribution, otherwise you could be wasting your money. Articles are much easier and therefore could be better than your "press release"
You can submit the same article to many article directories without spinning.

I suggest PR. Because it has a professional and stable view for many business. But you must focus many factors.

A lot depends on your business. Generally I would say its easy to get articles to work for B2C websites but Press Releases are better for B2B sites.

If you do a PR you need to make sure you have good, newsworthy content and it has to be well-written. To get a good chance of getting good coverage with the PR and getting good traffic levels you should also be prepared to use paid services such as PR-Web.

For the average affiliate I would say that from a traffic point of view article marketing is both easier and better for generating good traffic. If you are thinking about SEO then of course using both is preferred.

I wouldnt agree with the earlier poster about not needing to spin articles if submitting to multiple directories though. If anything Press Releases do not need spinning (it is commonplace for several publications all to use identical press releases) but articles do otherwise you are likely to find from a few hundred submissions only a handful stick in the search engines and bring in traffic other than traffic that is already browsing the article directory.

    Both!

You are missing the major point of your question. Either one can be an amazing vehicle to get traffic IF you create the material to be high quality, informative, and ready for massive syndication.

The goal in either case should be to get the article or press release to spread across the internet onto a massive amount of other blogs and websites carrying your resource box along with it. This will get you more back links, more natural traffic, and higher rankings for your primary website.

NO!!! You do not need to spin it, you need to PRODUCE MORE. 1 article being submitted is like asking if dropping a drop of water into your bathtub is enough. No matter how many times you spread the one drop of water around it is not going to be enough to get you clean. You need higher volume.

You can post it to other directories with the exception of a few like Buzzle which require unique content. Just do not link from an article back to the identical article on your website, or another directory, it is a sure way to have your reader disappear out of your traffic funnel.

As you continue to produce content always keep in mind the value of the article to other webmasters and bloggers and you will see your articles begin to spread around the internet for you without massive work on your part.

    Go Get 'Em!!!

A press release is likely to get traffic than an article, especially if it's too hot or controversial or something very interesting to people.

It would be better if you post your article in many directories. It's like marketing your article and getting a large audience for your article. Post only one article and allow others to read it by making a link in many directories. No need of posting the same exact article in directories.

I'll do both and contrary to popular belief press releases can work like articles if done right and it doesn't have to be mind blowing (in terms of getting traffic) but something informative.

It is all about distribution and putting it in front of the right audience.

so for press release you need companies that will publish your press release plus right keywords. same with articles and of course distributing it properly.

      all the best,

Not an expert but I would say building a decent amount of traffic, first and foremost, is important and should be done with article marketing. Always be writing (play off of "Always Be Testing" and "Always Be Closing") ... write, write and write solid content that's hitting the directories and pushing your RSS feed (through FeedBurner) and you'll see some traffic stability. Hit Yahoo Answers with honest, credible answers - not just in your topic but others, and then when you really get a good feel for your traffic, find something linked to the current events in your niche, tie it to your site (maybe a series of articles or a report) and then make a press release while it's still relevant.

I would say if anything, a press release is credible if the news is relevant and your press release is written well. If you have a horrible press release that has no true relation to what's available on your content, you might just waste your time and money.

I for one believe the efficacy of a press release distributed across news sites over an article published on article directories and vice versa mostly depends possibly on the situation and purpose of the author. If for instance your business currently merged with another company or acquired shares of another company and have launched new products/services with benefits not offered by competing products/services of other companies, a press release would be more effective in pulling targeted traffic and increasing the possibilities of getting more product/service/stock share sales, than an article submitted to the top article directories. If you have new tips, systems, advice, recommendations, etc. relevant to the needs and problems of your target audience, an article submitted to the top article directories would be an easier means to get targeted traffic and sales as well as a way to establish yourself as a friendly expert source of useful and updated info/advice/content relevant to the needs and problems of your target audience. This is just my opinion though, based on my experience and test results.

Yes, you can submit the exact same article to multiple article directories, provided you use an account for each of those article directories with the same author name and pen name. This is called content syndication. Only a few article directories do not accept articles from the same author already published elsewhere, and the most notable would be Buzzle. When you test this out by Googling for your target keywords or the exact title of your article once it has been published by 2 or more of the article directories you submitted to, you'd possibly notice that a few copies of your article on other directories would be included in the supplemental list of Google, while others included in the page results. If you vary your keyword searches on Google, you'd most likely notice copies included in the supplemental results for your previous keyword search would be included in the page results while other copies initially in the results pages would then be included in the supplemental results. Test it out with more keyword search variations, and you'd most likely find out different results altogether. This just means the article directories where your article is found as well as your article itself rank higher than the article directories with copies of your articles for particular set of keywords and lower with other keyword searches. Google most likely places lower ranking copies of your article in the supplemental results because they possibly want to provide users with different content that's most relevant, timely, popular and useful. They couldn't possibly do this if a results page consists mainly of one and the same content syndicated by an author on different directories, for certain keyword variations. I'm not telling you to do this. I'm just sharing my experience and test results. You decide of course if this is something you'd want to test and study the results, in case it would be useful for your business.

Both article directory submission and press release are effective. Its just that press releases have an instant way of bringing in some traffic when the release is done on a good press release syndication site. Some article directories like EZA have almost the same effect when the keywords are well selected.

You can place the exact same article on other article directories after a post on ezine articles. Make sure you use the same author name, so it still shows you are the owner of the article. But, if you have some time I prefer you edit it a bit and make some changes to make it a bit more unique before submission to other sites.

you can submit your articles as many times as you want, but always submit it to Ezine and Go Articles first. Also recommend not just "spinning" the article, try re-write it another way, they always sound and read better

PR will get you one time traffic that boost up your ranking via backlinks.

But for subsequent traffic, it will be better for you to use articles.

Best to do are, submit 1 pr per month and 1 article per day or more.

both PR and articles are effecitve in traffic generation, as well as SEO.
if you are doing a PR, make sure you write about something very newsworthy, as stated above. otherwise like they said, it's a waste.
You can submit many many aritcles in many different ways and this can help you gain traffic to your site. i use the hand spinning option in TBS to submit uniuqe content to each directory. but as they say above again, you don't necesarily have to do this.

    hope it helps
    happy holidays

You don't appear to have a signature.

Also, as contributing to this forum is a better way to improve your reputation, instead of having me follow your signature link thats not there, why not explain to the OP why PR's are the "fastest way of getting traffic and backlinks". That would then answer the OP's question.

That I think, would be much more beneficial to everyone else to.

a PR does not stay on top of the search engines for long. If you don't know how to beat this then use articles.

A PR ranks well for 3-5 days and then drops or loses steam. On the other hand an article gets better with age.

A PR is a good way to drive traffic but only if you know how to use it to make google your slave

If you are concerned about traffic only then you can go for Press Release as it is one of the powerful technique to derive traffic to your site and if you are also considering about the ranking of your site then article is the option for you.

Most of the article sites accepts your article if you are the sole author but if you are doing plagiarism then your account is canceled.
