The latest versions of word are fine but older ones strip out the links with many pdf writers.

This is why I use open office writer

Yeah I agree, just download Open Office for free and use the "Writer" program in the suite.

Open "Writer" then go to file open and open your Word document.....you might have to make some changes as the formatting might be a little different when you open it in "Writer".

When you are finished making your changes, just click on the PDF icon at the top of the screen and you are done. Now all of your hyperlinks should be clickable.

    Very easy.........

I tried to use Cute PDF and it did not make my links clickable.

I agree with open office. I used word today but it doesnt have the pdf package. Im using pdf 995 print driver. What i realized is that when you create pdf's this way... any pdf with anchor text hyperlinked doesnt convert to a clickable hyperlink. If you copy and past the full URL (and make sure their is a space after the last letter) it will automatically create a hyperlink. If the url is long simply use a shortener and you can track the links from the pdf and still have them live in your pdf.

    Hope that helps!

From what I understand, OpenOffice development is questionable going forward. Long live LibreOffice.

OpenOffice.org is Dead, Long Live LibreOffice -- or, The Freedom to Fork

I use open office to create article and hyperlink - then create PDF with one click within Open Office. Works like a charm

I think the problem is in your pdf writer software.

i have mic. office 2007. if you do a google search for "word 2007 to pdf" microsoft has a free download that will let you save word docs to PDF. i have used it many times to submit to doc. sharing sites. the links work fine. i will assume they have this download also in older versions, but not sure.
    hope it helps.
    happy holidays.

For older versions of Word: (2003)

If you want to keep using Word (and not have to go through a learning curve with a new word processor) and your requirement is that it must be FREE then you have only one choice: BTW, I am not affiliated with these guys.

    Description:
    » PDF Printer - Free PDF Converter » PdfPrinter.com

    Download Here:
    » PDF Printer - Free PDF Converter » PdfPrinter.com

Also requires the 32 bit GS Driver:
    Download Ghostscript from SourceForge.net

Just download and install these 2 programs. Now when you open Word you will see a new button "PDF Printer (Free)" Click this to make perfect PDF's with all links intact!

Caution: Do not use the virtual printer method - This works but makes PDF's without active links!

    Good Luck!

If you are lucky to have a Mac, when you create a PDF (built into the PRINT feature), it creates clickable hyperlinks.

    I love the Mac.

Just to throw in another PDF converter that is free... try PrimoPDF.

A google search will bring it up. (since I'm not at 15 posts yet and can't post links! :p:rolleyes
