Google's Voting System Is Live!

I just noticed a new feature on Google. Not sure if it's just a test or if it's on every data center yet. It apears you can now vote, rank, and leave comments about sites. What will this mean for SEO? Will this make it easy for competitors to knock your rankings and boost their own?

Absolutely nothing.

The voting, rankings. and notes are all personal account/customization stuff.

They will have little or no effect on the experience of others since no one will see your notes.

That's because you have to login to your google account (top right corner link) to use these features.

Thanks Josh... I didn't even notice I was logged in. Maybe this isn't something new after all.

I didn't get a chance to fully read the pop-up when I clicked the arrow and now I can't get the pop-up message to appear again. But it did say "You are the first person to pick this result" which lead me to believe that those votes count somehow... Also when I clicked the comment box the button to add a comment said "Make a public comment".

I sure hope it doesn't affect rankings because I can see this system being gamed very easily.

I just tried it - it says the comments are publicly viewable and associated with your account nickname.

Kind of looks like Google meets StumbleUpon, LOL.

Try this - I just added a comment...search Google on 1articleaday.com and see if my comment is visible to you.

All my sites now rank number one ! All you have to do is keep moving the arrow up, pretty pointless but good for visual goals !
