$0.00! - How a Complete Newbie Can Make a Start With Zero Dollars From Scratch

I receive quite a lot of emails and PM's from people who want to get started with Internet marketing but say they simply haven't got much and sometimes not even any money to invest.

There are also regular requests for free "review copies" of products because people say they just can't afford the wso, even when it's only $5-7!

So with that in mind I thought it would be useful to put together a quick and easy guide on how to get started with £0.00.

So here we go...

Okay so you will need access to a computer with Internet connection but if you're reading this then you already have that.

You can even find this for free if you need to, try friends, family, ask your employer, school, college, library, etc.

With no money available you really have two main choices to start making your first cash to re-invest and start moving forwards.

  • Supply a service if you have some skills
  • Article Marketing

Supply a service

If you can write articles, install websites, create graphics, build links, or any of the many other tasks that marketers need then this is probably the best way to get some cash coming in fast.

You just need to make people aware of the services you can offer. You don't need a fancy website to begin with but once you can earn just $5-10 a week you'll have enough to get that set up if you want.

So just get out there onto the forums, free advertising sites, or somewhere such as fiverr.com and earn your first $5-10. Some of the sites such as elance.com charge a small fee so you'll have to earn your first few dollars before you can use those.

Remember to use the Warriors For Hire section here when you can afford to pay for your thread.

So that's method one sorted!

Article Marketing

Now this isn't rocket science but you really do have to know how to make this work to get reasonable results fairly quickly.

What usually happens here is that people think they'll just need to write a couple of articles, add affiliate links, then submit them to article directories and BINGO! - the cash rolls in.

Or maybe not?

The first thing you should know is that you can't always link directly to affiliate offers so you might have to send them to a free website you'll need to create first.

In fact you don't have to use article directories you can just use sites such as Squidoo, Hubpages, or one of the many others where you can create web pages. Some will let you link directly but you need to check their terms.

It's important to realise that there are two main ways to effectively try article marketing, and they are to submit A LOT of articles to the right places, or to learn how to correctly target good keywords, and really you need to do both to make this work well.

Remember there's also the Warrior forum articles section for IM and Offline marketing articles when you can afford the subscription.

What's next?

Get over the "easy ride" and "no work" hurdles and put some real effort in and it's not that hard to earn your first income Online.

You'll learn quite a lot from just getting going like this and you only need about $10-20 to get your first website started and that's probably what you really want to do.

You can keep earning some cash each week with either of these methods and even build that up further while you work on the other aspects of creating a decent income from your other Online activities.

All you need to do now is go and get stuck in...

I'm sure there are some other good suggestions for how to get over the $0.00 problem so feel free to chime in especially if you've overcome this.

Can you recommend a good article writer? I have tried a couple so far but im not happy with the actual article quality and also no traffic from these articles so far. I have paid between $3-7 per article.

Not sure of your situation but I'd recommend doing your own to start with unless you've got a fair bit to spend.

Even at about $5 per article it's costing you $100 for just 20 articles. Have you thought about using PLR and doing rewrites, I've got good quality packs from just $1 per article.

If you really need to find a good writer then test out a few with just a couple of articles, there's plenty about in the "for hire" section and other places.

As for traffic that's down to keyword choice, links, and a few other things depending on where you use the articles, you just need to learn about how to do this properly if you're not getting traffic to your articles.

I agree with your advice on getting started by providing a service through fiverr or elance - but you mentioned that elance has a small fee? I have dabbled in elance and as long as you are willing to only bid on 10 projects a month, it is a free option (except, just like fiverr and similar sites, elance takes a commission out of your sale, but that is after you have completed a sale!)

000webhost is terrible advice, people should always invest some cash into quality hosting with support. You can't run proper FTP on free hosts and you don't get any customer support, which noobs really need.

That helped me a lot when I started out.

You can pay hostgator for like 10$ a month, or you can find some cheaper hosts for as little as 40-50$ a year.

The OP is working from the premise of working with Zero Dollars...in this case hosting has to be on something like blogspotand once some money is made then you can move to paid hosting.

It really isn't hard to earn a small amount each month to cover hosting but even that can seem a serious commitment if you're starting with nothing.

For about $5/month you can get good reliable service with support, and having your own hosting opens up a lot of potential to increase income with your own websites.

Free is good. As long as you don't become so successful that the money you earn actually matters to you if the free provider pulls the plug. For example:

      http://www.nic.cz.cc/tos.php

"CZCC reserves the right to modify or discontinue the service with or without notice to any Member. CZCC shall not be liable to any Member or any third party, to exercise its right to modify or discontinue the service."

Anything open source is "good free" because you have a license to use the source code and it can't be taken from you. Anything that is an online service is "questionable free" - you need to ask yourself what would happen to your business if it was taken away.

    Some good ideas.

I started to see some money come in when I offered myself up as an article writer.

It used to take me 30 mins to write each one. now I know that is a very slow speed but I used to earn cash all the same.

Like you said: 'Get over the "easy ride" and "no work" hurdles and put some real effort in'

    This is so true!

Certainly gets faster once you've written a few articles, then it should be easier to generate some regular income and start to split your time up to work on other projects.

Starting from scratch with no money you can just use whatever you need to make your first income, so you keep the risk of losing any money low.

Then once you prove to yourself that you can generate a little regular income it's always best to take a close look at how much control and ownership you will have over your business and your future.

Having your own website(s) is a great step forward as long as you have a clear understanding what you want to achieve with your site(s) and how to go about it.
