Where do I find my site's stats within Wordress?

I am a new user of Wordpress --- can someone tell me where you can see your site's stats, such as number of unique visitors? Is there a feature within Wordpress that logs your site activity like that? Thanks for your help.

There is a plugin for installing statcounter that is useful. You can get the same stats from your cPanel. But a wordpress install does not automatically provide stats.

There are several choices for stats. I like AWStats. Go to cPanel and just click on the icon for AW Stats and it should take you right there. It is interesting to see what keywords were used by searchers to find your site. You can look at the full list and start using those phrases in your content to keep pulling in the traffic from those phrases that searchers actually use, not what you think they use.

Not everyone has Cpanel with their hosting. In every hosting account there are some kind of statistics you can view for your website. You can also install the google analytics plugin on your WP site and that really gives you a good idea of what's going on.

You will need to firstly install a Wordpress plugin that monitors your traffic. I recommend StatPress or KStats. After activating it, it will start pulling the data in real-time. You can see the stats from the tab on the left of your dashboard.

I believe you can but there's only one way to find out..

Google Analytics is the best IMO because of the amount of data it returns.

If the OP has a Cpanel then the OP would not need to do this because CPanel has an excellent stats system.

Your stats are displayed in a frame on your own blog's dashboard. There are graphs and several sections of charts below. Please see h ttp://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stats/screenshots/

A plugin called statpress reloaded is great because it will give you the stats on the spider activity which I think is important for the early stages of your sites life. Clicky is amazing too, better than google analytics I think. Its a paid service but you can add it to one site for free. If this is a main site for you Clicky all the way. It even gives you real time stats, you can actually watch what a visitor is doing (while they are on your site) in real time.

I have tried kstats, and I have had confusing results. For instance, the AWStats report on CPanel for one of my sites says I have exactly ONE hit yesterday, where kstats claims I had 71 visitors for the same period, and lists many different IPs.

What gives? I'm relatively new at internet marketing (I'm an experienced programmer), but that kind of difference strikes me as very strange.

Edit: I think I found part of the discrepancy: The WP installation did not have the time zone set, and there was a 5-hour difference. However, going back the past several days still shows a huge difference in the totals, with AWStats showing a much smaller number.

I also use the google analytics plugin , but I also look at AW stats in cpanel about one a month. Having the plugin on the blog is just more convenient, but AW Stats give a lot more details, which is good to know such as which keywords visitors use to find your site etc. You can also see which bits are visiting your site and how often.

While it's great to have all the details that awstats or GA gives you, I find that I like the simplicity of wordpress.com stats plugin. Tells you most of the important info at a glance.

If you want more detailed info and you don't trust Google Analytics (which does leave a footprint), then check out the open source version.

there is nothing like Google Analytics, all the comprehensive data you need is there. But if you want to see it in your WP dashboard Kstats is a good plugin tool you can install.
