What Do You Expect From Being On A List?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what the best opt-in incentive would be?
What would make you really what to sign up for a list?

If you were to recieve an e-book what would you want it to be about?

Thanks a lot,

Zach

My Niche is 'make money online'. Sorry I should've included that Thanks for the replys so far

It depends. The visitors coming to your site are usually be interested in a free offer that related to your niche. So it depends on the visitor's interest.

To me it is web site traffic. Anybody can get me into their list with the free offers related to it. But I don't like signing up for article marketing related offers. It is just your visitor interest.

Free ebooks related to your niche works good, I think.

Depends on the niche. Read "Tested Advertising Methods"
by John Caples. It will give you some insight into what
type of offer of free information works and how to promote
it. With the instant gratification appeal of the internet things
have changed a bit though - so study what the slickest marketers
in your niches are doing and put your own spin on it.

    Hi Zach,

For me, it depends on the topic. Here's several possible incentives:

~Offer a video that shows step-by-step how to do a particular task.

~Some as above, except perhaps offer a illustrated pdf.

~Access to a members only forum.

~Offer a free script or program

    Hope that helps!

Personally, I think "Make money online" is far too broad unless you're going for absolute noobies. If that is your goal then consider a general offer like 'seven ways to make money online' and funnel them to several options, tell them how to do each one, and then suggest a 'paid guide' that relates to each offering.

One thing I forsee with being so broad is that your list is going to be all over the place. If you get just a tad more specific like 'affiliate marketing' or 'web site flipping', then you'll have plenty to promote that will be of interest to the bulk of your list.

    Just a suggestion.

I'm pretty sure there wasn't any opt-in gift incentive for the lists I've stayed on long-term and continue to enjoy.

I believe the secret to building a loyal subscriber base is simply to make them feel a part of your own "inner circle".

I have a list for make money online, I personally like a broad range,

so here is what I do.

When they opt in I offer them free unlimited access to a membership site, the membership helps them set up an online business.

Through my membership site they now have a business model, which helps me funnel them to any other products they may find valuable to their success

I teach them how to get traffic, so my list includes people who want to make money online, they have a business plan to follow now they need traffic.

I also include many free bonus ebooks, and free gifts.

my subscribers are very happy because I rarely email them ads, and they recieve plenty of free bonuses each month

I email them very valuable information that will help them grow their business, about 3 times a week.

my unsubscribe rate is very low, and I generate really good leads that convert plenty of sales.

Don't want to put a downer on your idea but a few points to consider...

    1. competition is huge for this market
    2. the online marketing community needs another "how to make money online" product like it needs a "hole in the head"
    3. you should consider creating a truly unique product that will add value to a person's life (not just rehash other content already available elsewhere and peddle it yourself)
    4. you should be actually making money online yourself before you go "showing others" how to do it.

If you believe that you can check all the things above by all means go for it! Otherwise maybe consider another niche!

    Good luck in your endeavors!

I would want actual, usable, solid information. Not a constant stream of infomercials. Ads are fine...solo ads are fine...but most of the material should be information for information's sake.

Anyone else tired of getting tons of offers but no real meat?

Oh, and I agree with Frank, above. I subscribed to a certain list years ago and would never think of leaving it. I don't remember there being a bonus ebook or anything. Of course, I had already read a lot of the author's physical books, so I was eager to sign up for his list. You may not have that advantage.
