Which Project Management Software?

Hey All! I was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations on PMS. I am thinking of using BasecampHQ. Is anyone else using it?

    You might want to check out a cheaper alternative with DeskAway.com I have been with them for 5 months now with no problems at all.

    Basecamp is perfect PMS. I'm using basecamp from past 18 months and it make my life very easier.

    If you are low on budget then go for projectPier. It's FREE and you can install it on your own server.

    Projectpier is not as great as basecamp but it's worth using if you are low on budget.

      Basecamp is decent at what it does, but is not a PM tool. There are a lot of things that you need as an IM that you don't find in basecamp.

      What it does, it does reasonably well. So if you are just looking to manage to-do lists and share it with people and get them to put in time against it, basecamp is good for this.

      But if you are at all seriously interested in a project management software that truly meets the needs of a marketer or to efficiently manage a team of outsourcers, you will need to look somewhere else.

      I have heard many say that basecamp is a great PM tool. It is not. It is good at what it does and can be used for PM, in the same way excel can be used for PM. Can it be done, yes, is it the most efficient, definitely not.

      So be sure you know what you are looking for. If you are looking for a collaboration tool that you can use for good communication within your team, basecamp is good. But if you need this and a decent PM software, basecamp is not the one.

    I love the Scrum method of project management. Here is a great free tool if you understand agile development, which can certainly be applied to most IM projects.

    Basecamp is great for the basics, but falls short in some very important aspects of project management. It is formally known is a communicative tool more than anything.

    I use and have done contract work with WORKetc; the application combines areas of business management to simplify the management process and make things easier on users. It's project management features are definitely comparable to basecamp, and include;

    -Gantt charts
    -Client collaboration
    -Project dependency
    -unlimited projects/sub projects/to-dos
    -timesheet/milestone billing
    -Document management.

    That's just the project management features. The application also combines CRM, support, and billing aspects into its system as well, and can effectively be used to manage an entire small business. It's $30/user. You can find a comparison chart on their website as well that goes more in depth on the Basecamp VS WORKetc comparison (and other PMs).

    I read your thread title and immediately thought Basecamp.

    I love all the stuff by 37signals, and they actually released a book, that might even be relevant to some marketers, on agile development (of web applications, but I think it could be applied in a broad variety of ways).

    In the end it depends on your needs.
