Selling Audiobooks which don't belong to you...

Hey guys,

Recently I've become very interested in Public Domain E-books I feel that there's a lot of great material out there which can be used. I have a question though about something which I'm not at all sure about. I have been able to find a source (not Librivox) with a good amount of audio books made by someone else. My question is, can I sell those or is there a copyright issue on the audio book because it is made by someone else? I don't want to put myself in any sort of trouble and I can't seem to find any information about this, except for info that you can resell Public Domain material.

Thanks for any advice.

    Hi Jericho,

I'm also into Public Domain works. Since you mentioned that the 2nd source makjes those audio books, why not approach them? Ask her/him for permission. Get creative & see what you & the owner can come up with.

Very sure sure that there is a statement somewhere on the site or on each audio book of this 2nd source, that will state the copyright status. It may well be in 'creative commons'. Here is the link to 'CC'.

Creative Commons — Copyright-Only Dedication (based on United States law) or Public Domain Certification

Let me know if you need any help.

    Cheers!
