Has anyone had success with buying targeted or untargeted traffic?
I know some websites sell redirected traffic, I just want to know if anyone here has tried out any of such services.

I'm planning to promote a product targeted generally at females. Is it worth spending money on such traffic?

I would like suggestions of services you have tried with success.
Thanks!

For your site to succeed you must have traffic.

But to be successful, you almost need a perfect storm: good quality traffic, good sales copy, a compelling offer, a price that makes sense to the consumer, and an easy payment processing system.

When the perfect storm comes, then you need to sweeten the various elements of your offer to help drive new sales. Maybe you will offer bonuses to sweeten the deal, or improve the quality of your copy, etc.

I have had success with varying degrees of "targeted" traffic -- free and paid traffic included...

I have done okay targeting keywords. I have done better targeting categories. And even on untargeted traffic, I can still get some sales, but at a much lower conversion rate.

It would be silly to waste your advertising on men, so pre-qualify your traffic to women. Then use other pre-qualification copy to tighten the focus of the traffic you want even more.

Think of yourself as the wizard of oz with a number of levers that need to be set just right to create the circumstances you need to close more sales. Some times you will need to tweak to the Nth degree, other times, you will find the sweet spot in a much wider arc.

So you're saying that you've had a success with paid traffic? I've always curious with this method but I kinda have a hesitation about it, I mean I don't think it will bring me quality traffic and it will be just a waste of money. I also find a lot of bad stories about people who buy traffic end up getting bad quality traffic that did not convert at all, especially with PPC method.

Is there any tips on how to find the best place to buy traffic? what kind of site that could give you quality traffic that could be converted?

It takes money to test different paid strategies so you will have to spend money first in order to know what you'll get for it.

That's why starting with a paid strategy before you know whether you can convert the traffic is not always a good way to start.... especially if money is tight.

I believe that this is the main purpose of doing Offpage SEO for websites - so that quality and targeted traffic will come, and in the long run SEO is cheaper and better than paid traffic.

Agree with you sonjay. Paid traffic is temporary. SEO if it is done correctly could be longterm for free, highly targeted and on autopilot.

There are many words said like: Google dies... and so on. I think this is just another thing some marketers do to scare away people from working strategies.

You say your offer is aimed at women. My knowledge of PPC, PPV and other such systems is very limited, but I doubt you'll find a provider that will guarantee the only targeted traffic you need - women.

You need to somehow figure out if your efforts wouldn't yield better results if you focused on free techniques instead - like forums, or preferably SEO.

Plus, in case you really want to do the popular "investment => return" thing, you may want to consider buying an Ezine ad, because you can carefully select one that has the target audience you desire.

I've purchased targeted traffic before, it didn't seem to be worth it...

IMO: I'd stick to offering high-quality content and implementing basic SEO.

      That's just me though :p

No one buys untargeted traffic unless they're perhaps using it for nefarious purposes, which I won't go into here. If you're talking about websites selling "hits", I am almost certain you won't see any sales of your product, as that kind of traffic is pretty untargeted.

In reality, it's not either "targeted" or "untargeted" but a spectrum or continuum.

Targeted traffic will convert best, but the volume will be lower than less-targeted traffic.

In many cases you can pay less per click / impression for less targeted traffic and still make a profit, and get a lot more volume than on the obvious targeted traffic.
