Clicktale alternatives

I'm looking for some Clicktale alternatives. I love their service, it's just that their price is too much for what I need. So if anyone knows something similar that maybe doesn't offer as much, I would be much obliged.

clickdensity.com is similar, crazyegg.com does visitor activity monitoring too.

You should definitely check out mouseflow.com. Mouse tracking, video playback of visitors and attention heatmaps - Mouseflow. It's the most serious contender to ClickTale and offers you the same base functionality at a much lower price.

If it's not totally obvious I'm associated with Mouseflow

      Thanks,
      Lasse

While I haven't checked it out yet, this was mentioned in an earlier thread as offering free heatmaps, etc. It appears to currently be in beta test.

There's nothing quite like clicktale. Mouseflow sucks - the data is so inaccurate, it's almost like it's made up. Picnet is ok, and another one called seavolution (or seevolution - google it).

I've stopped relying on heatmaps for now. The most important factor in your copy is the psychological effect it has on your reader. This does not always correlate well with the pattern of movement the reader has on your site.

I've had some salespages where the reader would scroll all the way down, hover on the buy button, and even click it but then just leave at the order page. On other sales pages, most readers didn't scroll down past the fold, but the few that did, clicked through and bought the product and my sales were higher on the latter.

Focus on the ideas you're planting on your reader's mind. Do A/B split-testing, with sales as the ONLY outcome. Forget about heatmaps, they're more of a deterrent to success if you ask me.

You could try Orpheus Tools - they provide free visitor recordings, heatmaps and analytics. I tried them - seem to be very good and no costs. The service is currently in beta.

Thanks for asking this - I was asked this by one of my inner circle members just last week and wasn't sure of all the options out there. Thanks for all the responses too!
