First CB Sale..I Should Be Happy Right????

Well I did check my stats from 2 weeks ago and found I have my FIRST sale from a CB product and yea it feels good BUT I feel since the time I have been doing it it should be more. Let me give you some background and maybe you great guys can tell me what I need to be doing more to promote and/or produce better sales.

This CB product is a piece of music software. I started it in August and its been on my blog ever since. When I first signed up I wrote a nice 500 word blog post about it and of course put up links in the body and a big banner.
It got clicks but no sales at all (still trying to figure out the whole cb tracking)

So then about 2 weeks later I wrote 1 article and spun it using different keywords. That article gets me LOTS of views daily AND lots of searches. Im getting a lot of eyeballs to the site, that particular page but still no sales until 12-4-2010 where someone in Europe bought it + an upsale for a $40 sale.

Now with all the views I had in the past and even searches done in google for something like this product (as when they search they do come to my blog page) I have only got a sale last week. What did I di wrong those other 4 months?

I took a pic of my months tracking info and want to post it here or at least a link so you guys can see the results for the month and maybe tell me more about the stats? From what I see seems I got 39 clicks but cant really tell if they went further then the first page of the software.

BTW the affiliate has TONS of banners, sales leads etc and this product is popular so lots of other users videos and such are already indexed and strong.

Feedback please on what I should do to ramp this up and keep sales flowing.

Thank you

Pic of CB Stats is here...

Let me make sure I understand you. You're doing affiliate marketing, with one blog, one product, and one article.

Ok, if that's the case, there's your problem right there.

One Product - Ok, I know its said that you should start with just one thing and work it until its making you all the money in the world. HOWEVER, In my opinion with affiliate marketing you need to be promoting more than just one product at a time. This ties into the blog, actually. But, if you are going to do one product, make multiple posts about it, a new article each time.

One Blog - You've got one blog, alright. Why not make it a niche blog? Write nice, long posts about different products. If its a weight loss/fitness site, why not pick several products to promote, via clickbank, cpa, whatever, and go for it? More products promoted = More money.

One Article - Ok, One article is good, yeah. But, if you want to see some awesome results, you should at least put up five articles a day for two weeks. OR ten articles a day for a week. Make them captivating, interesting, and leading to your products page. One article with some views is great, but what about 70 articles with some views on each one? Sounds better right?

Just keep at it, and things should get better.

I agree with BuildingFutures. You are on the right path but you need to put in more work. You can't just take one product, one blog, one article and think it's going to rake in a small fortune. Things just don't work like that.

I've written 55 articles in the last 3 or 4 weeks. I've had about 10 sales in that time. I believe it should be more but I'm not going to complain. I'm just going to keep writing. Eventually, I'll see better results with more time and effort.

Just keep writing and finding new products. Obviously you've done something right. Stick to it and just do more of what you did.

Ok LOL maybe I should have stated....The CB product is just a small % of other things I sell. The post on the blog was part of my music blog and was just 1 page/post about this product. The blog itself is not centered around this CB product. It was basically an add on BUT not the main part at all of the blog. (more like a commercial LOL)

I sell other things (my own music) and this was just a way to try and get secondary income from a CB product. So again its NOT part of the real blog it was just a post to try and get sales from a product.

Now with that begin said, how can I now ramp up this product now that I have 1 sale under my belt finally. and again please use the pic of the last 30 day stats to help.

Ok, its all well and good that its just a part of your bigger site as a promotion, but the things I said already still stand. You need more articles, and if you want more clickbank sales, you might want to find other products to sell from that music niche as well. Definitely write more articles, and just get that page on your site ranked in google for the keywords.

I also still think you need to make another blog post about it, something along the lines of: "I know I've plugged it before here guys, but this is something I do want all of you to see..." Yadda yadda yadda.

    Promotion promotion promotion.

Understood...Since I had one big post about it that still gets hits I did not want to seem like I was throwing it in there face. will write 1 article today and maybe follow up by end of year.

Could you give me some points though on the pic that was on the main post. Any idea maybe why there not following through?

There's 2 ways to look at this 1st sale:
      1. Everyone else was a "window shopper" and your sale was to the 1 person on THAT day who wanted your product.
      2. Your changes attracted people who were looking for that product, and 1 of them was insightful enough to buy it.

Neither of these helps with your marketing, does it?
      Me too.
I've made plenty of individual CB sales. However...

Use your blog to harness the power of the Internet: interaction with the client.
Encourage comments (maybe give a freebie)
      Post a poll
      Link to a forum
Have a form where the person can ask a question - and then answer it

      Good luck.
I'm still trying to solve the more-than-1-CB-sale riddle myself!

You only had 39 hops and made a sale which is an 11% conversion. That's a good conversion so keep doing what you have been doing. Lots more articles (like hundreds) and you will see that sales figure grow.

Yeah, I was about to say the same thing. You need more traffic. Your site is converting, it just needs more traffic. That's good. A lot of marketers convert at around 1 to 2%.

It also helps if you're targeting buyer keywords like: Music Maker Review or Buy Music Maker or Best Music Making Software. Target keywords, if you can, of people who are past the searching stage and are getting to the buying stage.

Yeah, like everyone's saying ... you just gotta do more of what you're doing. A few people hit homeruns ... most do well hitting tons of singles, doubles, etc. Get yourself more exposure out there and it'll be hard to not do better.

Also, make sure you're "speaking" to your visitors the right way. Know what they really want, learn their hot buttons, and get them excited to get help / buy RIGHT NOW from your site. That'll boost conversions even if your traffic doesn't increase.

Thank you all...I was not sure about the hops and stuff. I take that to mean as ewll 39 people clicked on the link and of course out of that 39 1 bought. But with more all the searches that go to that particular page there are still a lot not even bothering to click on the banner....Will get an article out tonight!

I don't think anyone mentioned one of the MOST IMPORTANT things you should be doing to get more sales. BUILD A LIST!! You want to capture every single visitors' e-mail address and name. Say you have 100 visitors and only 1 sale, not gathering e-mail adrresses that is all you will ever have from those 100 visitors. If you get their e-mail you can build up a good relationship with them by offering some free advice or a newsletter etc..... Then promote products to them whenever you want.

      hope this helps

      best of luck,
      Justin

2 orders off of 39 clicks is not bad at all. What you need to be doing is starting an email list so you can capture some of your visitors and turn them into paying customers if possible.

Keep generating more and more traffic to your blog and keep increasing your click thru rates. The more clicks you get the more money you will make plain and simple.

Just continue to ramp everything up and if it is feasible for you start a list a.s.a.p

Often it is one of three things:

    1. Your keyword research is not targeted to people ready to buy... You may be pulling people into your site who are just browsing for free information.

    2. You ads are not user-friendly. People either see them as too spammy and don't click, or they may be too hidden and don't get clicked.

    3. As you are getting SOME clicks, it may be due to the fact that the content and theme of your page is not directly related to the product you are selling. Your visitors may be interested in learning about the product but maybe you have already given them the information they need.

    Cheers,
    Dave

All points taken. I just built a landing page using there own lander and bought a keyword specific domain. Im indexed and of course on the first page of google for certain keywords around the product. I wrote an article and submitted it today as well.

Wll prob do another Wedensday night (work 10 hour shifts at day job) and then another next Sunday. Have some other tools in play and will see how it goes. SInce August I did nothing to promote it although my articles are #1 for a lot of related long tail words so it gets hits its just the first time it converted!

Second = you've converted with 39 hops as a brand new aff with a VERY small campaign/asset list - so congrats again.

Third = It has taken you two weeks to get those 39 hops, a few of them are probably you, and a few are bots - so let's say it's 30, that's 2 hops a day bro.

I preach to get a minimum 100-200/day for a week straight before being able to really gauge any data properly. I'm actually QUITE surprised that you converted at this rate or hops to be honest, so you're actually doing something very right or it was a fluke.

Feel free to reach out directly if you'd like to show me what you're doing and I can help tweak but before you do that - I'll repeat the above re stepping it up and creating AT THE VERY LEAST 2-3 new assets a day. Either backlinks, articles, FB, media buys, youtube vid remixes, etc. but MAKE SURE you discipline yourself to be doing something every single day not just checking stats from one article, huge difference. By now you could have had two weeks worth of assets (14 articles or a mix of articles/vids/blog posts etc) and potentially had 14 times the hops by now and growing..

Best of luck and if you'd like some one-on-one let me know.
