How can you Scale Up as amazon afiliate/ associate?

Everyone says once you start seeing success with amazon, or whatever you are promoting, just to scale it up. But there are always new products coming out, especially electronic, which makes the old products outdated. So I am just curious about how is it possible to get ahead. By the time you start doing good with a product a newer one comes out, so you won't be making many sales with the other one right? Then you have to review and promote the new product. It seems like a vicious cycle where you can't get ahead. So how would you scale this up?

    Hi Brad,

    Very good question!

If you setup your site correctly, you will have multiple products on your sites. Personally, as long as the product is still be sold on Amazon regardless of age, I will still display it on my site. Now, once the product is no longer for sale due to obsolescence then I just replace that product post with the newer product.

It is not that big a problem and I would say that this sort of maintenance is done once every 2-3 months. You'd be surprised by the product life of most products.

This problem is very niche specific. Of course, if you sell digital cameras there will be a new model every one or two years. But if you sell books, camera euqipement, tables, dumbells and so on, the problem isn't a problem anymore...

I am just getting started as an amazon affiliate and I am deliberately focusing on "evergreen" products. Electronics have a very short life span, in that newer models seem to come out so often, so I tend to stay away from promoting those products. On the other hand, they are often higher priced, which means better commissions. :-)

Use a simple site creating script, have reviews written monthly, seo them (the sites) move on.

Here's what we mean by scaling your Amazon business once you start making some money.

Firstly, regarding the products that gets outdated. This is the reason I stay away from electronics. They get outdated way too quickly for my liking and the commission is capped at 4% for electronics.

I like to choose products in other categories like home and garden, kitchen appliances etc because those products sell well for a very long time before they become outdated.

To scale your Amazon business pretty much just mean that you have to do what you did to make money over and over again. Use your winning formula and duplicate. Also, don't try and do it all yourself. It will take too long and you will be doing unnecessary tasks such as designing, building back links etc. You need to be focusing your time on business development. Thinking of new ways to monetize, new niches, building lists in your niches while outsourcing all of the other tasks.

That's how you scale your Amazon business. If you have 2 or more sites doing well. Use outsourcing to build 50 or 100 or more of those same sites in different niches. This is what I am doing right now and I tell ya. It's a lot better than trying to do it all myself because it will never happen if I had to do it all myself.

      Cheers

        Jan Roos nailed it.

Electronics is always on the top of people's minds when they want to start promoting Amazon. But that's gotta be one of the fastest updating markets around.

Think about other things that go for a pretty penny, but are slow to update (swing sets, industrial equipment, pet supplies, etc). They're are hugely popular, but don't go out of date nearly as quickly as electronics.

(Although some really popular electronics can stick around for a while)

As for scaling up ... yep, just find the system that's working for you ... and then multiply the people building it up (outsourcing if you want). You can only do so much yourself, but multiply the manpower and you're scaling up.
