Very cool man. It's always good to have a back up incase you wind up with a PP freeze.

    Greetings Chris,

Thank you for the list of PayPal alternatives.

These folks are not always the easiest to deal with.

Just getting an answer from them, if you have a problem is very close to mission impossible.

If you're gonna do a launch, or bring in some larger amount of money ... it is always best to call them and advise them of what is going on.

Even doing that, I have had friends, that have had their account closed or frozen for six months.

Wishing you all the best ... Ron

Just the thought of that even being a possibility makes me nauseated! ARGH!

Although most of my clients use Paypal
almost 24 percent of my customers are now choosing
Google Payments when offered alongside the Paypal button.
If I know some buyers could be marketers themselves then I feel I
    still have to offer Paypal.

      Interesting and unusual.

I'm extremely surprised to see "Venmo" (which is very new, and nobody's ever heard of it) at number 1, and AlertPay not mentioned at all!! What's that all about?! It certainly requires some explaining, doesn't it?

Call me a skepchick, but might this article originally have been written as part of "Venmo's" publicity, perhaps? I see it was published only today ...

The author of the article and Venmo are both from Philly so your probably right!

PS: Are you having an Identity crisis? I've seen you changing your avatar lately.

Ah - I hadn't noticed that - thanks. Good thinking, there.

          The article's clearly promotional.

        Hi Alexa

Yeah - sounds like its new.

Also Rus mentioned that both the author and Venmo are from Philly so that seems to add weight to that thought pattern.

So what they are really saying is that Amazon and Google are the actual best options.

        Looks that way to us.

        regards

Since I am permanently banned from paypal I use alertpay and they are very easy to use and growing at a steady pace they actually just crossed the 5,000,000 mark

I think that one good reason for dumping paypal is the large fees they charge per transaction, but apart from that they work great.

Getting booted from paypal has to be the worst experience for anyone... 90+% of people in the US and EU on the internet have a paypal account, and/or have used paypal before.

The only thing it really changes is some of the things I can be an affiliate for because they only pay out in paypal, with that said I'm not really in any affiliate marketing to begin with so it's no bigs. But yeah it kind of sucks considering I never even ran a transaction with paypal.

    Nice post.

I actually have accounts with Paypal, 2Checkout, Google Checkout, and Moneybookers (used mainly for online Poker).

I have specific uses for each one, but it is nice to know I have alternatives for any clients that doesn't want to use a particular one.

I'm surprised Plimus is not on the list. Because of my location, I don't have a paypal account to receive funds but instead use Plimus.

Thanks for sharing. I'm not sure how Venmo made it to the no. 1 spot, but it certainly looks like a self-promotional article disguised as "fact". I'm surprised that Alertpay didn't show up there as well, and out of the 6 that were displayed, I'd most likely pick Google Checkout as the next best alternative to Paypal, with Amazon right below it.

People should really be taking a look at FastSpring.

Great customer service and ability for recurring payments is on the way (in beta at the moment I believe).

James is correct. This is a very good solution for all of us. But they don't allow SEO services to sell. That's really bad for us.

I'm watching their video. Any idea when their recurring payment system will be available? I have a membership site and I will need one by the first.

          Honestly...Just e-mail their pre-sales questions email address.

They have always been completely forthcoming with me, and quick to respond. It is my hope that as they grow that trend will continue.

The service may not be great for people offering things like SEO services, but for product sellers (physical and digital) and membership site owners, it appears to be a winner.

As they catch on they will be easier integrated into the various systems that are so popular around this community. However, I suspect if you're already making good money, you can hire a good programmer to chop your stuff up to force fit everything, and that should work for the time being.

    Try that also.

Anyone used Amazon Webpay? I'm using Amazon servers so it would make sense to switch to them. Possibly is it just easier to use your banks merchant services?

There have been merchant who have had major problems with Google Checkout. A gentleman selling bamboo cases for the iPad had his account frozen with $750,000 in it because his sales came in fast after the launch of the iPad. He then had to open a PayPal account until the matter could be straightened out. He had problems fulfilling his orders and couldn't pay his vendors because of the freeze. Payment processors are kind of like cell phone companies, a major pain in the you know what.
