Is Spam Email A Simple Numbers Game?

Sorry but I just need to know. Why the heck does it matter? Why do they bother? I've had exactly 2314 fake rolex emails hit my junk mail this month already. I know it's Xmas and all but Damn!

I really want to know is there any reason for bombing spam at email accounts like this OTHER THAN just waiting for some tragic dumb a$$ to click on their link? As in, is there some other trickiness and blackhattery that I'm not aware of behind their crapping all over my spam mail box? Because really, can it still be lucrative enough for these bozos to keep asking my sister if she needs Viagra?

Just curious.

  • Well, it can be for a number of different reasons...

Chances are, though, if they keep on doing what they are doing, it must be working to some degree...

    Yep.

Throw enough .... at the wall and something is going to stick. Same as building a list. For most it's a numbers game.

Yes, it is obviously a numbers game. But most of these emails were most likely sent from people living in countries that have much lower cost of living.

I did see a report on one spam email campaign, they made a little money, with a conversion rate something like .001%

Coincidentally I have been saving my 200 a month watch spam emails for a chinese spam reporting agency (which I can't presently locate)

I view all of these potential buyer turn offs, including excess spam, fradulent CPA offers, etc., that cause individuals to swear they will never buy from the internet again to be "Killing The Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs"

    Actually one study

Spam gets 1 response per 12,500,000 emails | News | TechRadar UK

showed a response rate of 0.00001% on one spam campaign was estimated to earn the spammers $3.5 million per year. That is similar to a story I read a few years ago about a spammer on the eastern seaboard who was charged and found to be making several million per year. There is always some dumb a$$ who clicks a link. Of course, robbing a bank can also bring in that kind of payday...and there is always somebody greedy enough for money to try it...

Tough to rob enough banks to generate $3.5 Million a year with a low risk of getting caught. And these a****les do it from the comfort of their home.

I hope there's a special corner of hell reserved for them.
