How to Cloak affiliate link where the Target URL will not be visible even after the visitor arrives

How do I do the Cloak Redirection thing where Target URL will not be visible even after the visitor arrives at the affiliate offer page?

I tried both gocode and prettylink plugin and although when you hover on the link on my page, you don't see the affiliate link in the bottom of the browser (you see, mysite.com/go/affiliate offer name), but when I click on it and and at the actual affiliate site, at the top of the browser it shows the affiliate link!?

I have seen it on other people's site when you click on an affiliate link and when you land on the page, you cant see affiliate url, you just see the actual (affiliate offer site) name of the affiliate offer.

By the way, I know that the pretty link has an option for doing that, but you have to pay and upgrade. But, I thought most people who do use free plugins are able to do the same! How do I do it with free plugins or is not possible?


I would appreciate any help. Thank you very much in advance.

    set the landing page as a frame page, with the top or bottom frame with 1px or 0px, and the other frame as the affiliate landing page.

      And also, would this be the NO NO framing thing that is against most CPA networks rules or am I just mixing completely different things up? I guess what I am asking is, Would it be ok to use it for CPA offers?

        If the cpa network says No Framing, then this method will not work:

        You can change the 25 to a 0 to achieve this, if there are no rules against using Frames.

        The above example is from a page I have set up here:

        Iframe is another alternative.

        Iframe is set up like this:

        The best alternative to give you what you need, and to get around the restrictions offered by cpa networks is using PHP to Curl the offer page into an existing page of yours. But that is a little more complex to do, since you need to do the Curl to get the content, then strip their header tags, then reassemble the page, and present it to your visitors.

          Hey guys, dont make the poor guys lose all his commissions. I framing is against the rules with almost literally every affiliate network. It's too many schemes and dirty tricks a person could pull to get over on the company or advertiser.

          And without Iframes, I dont know what to tell you. Honestly do not even think this is possible. The destination address (vendor landing page) shows your affiliate info because you are the one who, gulp, referred them. If you start messing around with this you could mess up and not get any referral commissions.

          I've admittedly dabbled in some bl*ckhat 5 years ago, made 10's of thousands, and I've never went to this extreme. I would not worry about it. Or find another way to advertise if you are hot under the collar.

          Just my advice.

            I have no idea whether it is against the rules or not. That is why I advised for him to find out for sure, before selecting his method.

    You could also redirect / forward your domain to your affiliate page. Most domain name providers should have that option.

      Thanks for the help. I know that and I use that in some cases, But this is where I am dealing with more than a few links. So it will be quite time consuming and costly (well maybe not that costly). Thanks anyway.

    Thank you guys. I really appreciate the help. I will check with my cpa networks to make sure its all good.

    Now here is what I do not understand, whats the point of plugins such as gocode and pretty link? Is it to give you some SEO benefit by masking outgoing links? Is that all they do or is there something else I am missing here?

      With the pro version of Pretty Link you can do a permanent redirect very quickly and easily. It shows your link at the top when they visit the page.

      The benefit of using Pretty Link pro for me is that I have one place I can quickly track, change and update any affiliate links.

      If I create a link such as mysite.com/bestofferever and the offer eventually changes, I can simply redirect that link to another affiliate offer.

      Yes you can do that through other methods if you have the technical ability. You can write redirects, use php, etc.

      I like easy and simple. It tracks traffic, can set up a bar at the top for allowing people to retweet it easily.

      You can use it to redirect a link within your site as well. I have used the wrong link in an article before. Instead of taking the article down, simply create a redirect to the right page within your blog.

      Masking your affiliate link generally increases click throughs, makes it harder for people to steal a commission from Clickbank links, and allows you to control if the company changes.

      Had an affiliate company recently change their program. Suddenly every link for that company needed to be changed. I downloaded my pretty link file, updated them all, and re-uploaded it.

      Quick and simple and only took a fraction of the time it would take to do using most of the methods listed.

        I'm actually using pretty link lite right now as we speak... So let me get this right...

        If I buy pretty link pro, and have a link "mysite.com/abcde", which points to a clickbank product, lets say truthaboutabs.com, when the person clicks my link, truth about abs site will show up but it will still say "mysite.com/abcde" in the url bar?

        If so, I'm sold. And you should put your affiliate link here to get the commission
