looking at adwords, google is charging like $4/5 bucks for most keywords and in there adsense policy it says they pay 50% out to adsense publishers so how comes i am only making a single cent on most clicks, is it the same for everyone or are you people getting $1/2 per click

not all keywords are $4/$5 usually those are high demand keywords. There are a lot that are only a few cents each.

  • I would guess that Google has bigger things to spend time on than trying to rip off people who help them make money...

It's like the first responder said. You may be getting traffic on some really long tail keywords and not some high traffic/high paying keywords. They're gonna pay more for "weight loss" then they are for "weight loss for brunette women over 40" and perhaps you have gotten clicks like the second example. Hope that makes sense.

Adwords advertisers have a choice to advertise on websites and/or search engines.

The CPC rates you see displayed in the keyword tool relate to search engine advertising only. The CPC rates for content/websites is unknown but estimated to be about 25-35% of the rates that are advertised in the adwords keywords tool. Hence the adsense payout is calculated as follows: 25-35%(CPC rates) x 50%

        Hope this helps.

There are a number of reasons...

(a). They are delivering poor low converting traffic
(b). They are in the Smart Pricing dungeon and don't know how to get out
(c). The web pages on their site are not SEO optimized and therefore the ads being rendered do not fit the traffic they are receiving
(d). They constantly have a low CTR; the lower your CTR, the lower your eCPM
(e). They didn't perform proper keyword research
(f). They are using graphical ads when they should be using text based ads
(g). They are using text based ads when they should be using graphical ads
(h). They have an "Extremely high" bounce rate because surfers are put off by the layout/navigation/feel/look of the website

Those issues will get you low payouts everyday.

Thanks a lot, it is first time I hear that. I get 1 cent clicks and 1 dollar+ clicks at the same time, depending on ad. When I started it seemed I will never reach the threshold of 100 dollars, but now the payment is due. You just need to be patient and always learn. Also I think it depends on your CTR. Try to tweak your ads and find what works best for you. I always tweak the pages that work the best first. It is easier to see if there is any change.

Not all keywords are $4-$5 each. When I used to do adwords, I had 2000+ keywords and paid $.05 each. I know it can seem frustrating, but they aren't ripping you off; they have better uses of their time. Try getting detailed analytics to see what keywords are bringing people to your site, that might help clear it up.
