Vendors and affiliate programs, how to know?

Clickbank and Amazon and all the other usual affiliates are a given as affiliates, but there are a bunch of other vendors that I'd like to consider as affiliates. Some of them provide a link to their affiliate program and an affiliate ID. However, there are others that I'd like to consider that don't show anything for an affiliate program. Does this usually mean they don't have/don't want an affiliate program or do you have to ask individually? Is there some kind of central clearinghouse for affiliates in general? Thanks.

Hmmm... I am a vendor. Do you want to consider me as YOUR affiliate... or you want me to stay as a vendor and you want to become MY affiliate?

Rapbank is another good place to look around - instant commission payment to your PP account.

Maybe I should clarify...I'm thinking more along the lines of vendors of tangible products, widgets (non WP) and such, cat trees for instance. There are some things I'd really like to promote and are readily available online, but they don't show an affiliate program on their site. Typically, does that mean they don't have a program or do they expect you to make the first contact?

If you don't see an affiliate link on their site (always check the footer too), then here are a couple things that you can try:

    1) try searching for their product name (or site) and the word affiliate like: diet pepsi affiliate (hey, I'm enjoing a cold diet pepsi now, so that's the first example that came to mind)

    2) Use their contact form or chat if available - many times a contact form will have a category for your question - it may list affiliate info on there

    3) Use general contact info to ask

    4) If they don't have one, you could offer to help them set one up! Become their affiliate manager, and guide them though the process!

    Hope it helps.

Thanks Gary, guess I'm going to go knocking on doors. Not so bad, some of my best sales have come from cold calls.

        Any time, you're very welcome.

You've got the right attitude as well - if you don't see a runway, build your own!

        All success,
