Affiliate Links on Warrior Forum

I have 2 warrior forum related tracking issues, if you can offer advice it will be gratefully received:

1) I know that affiliate links can't be used on the forum, but how can we track correctly when linking in signatures and in posts? I am a product owner and would like to use our affiliate tracking to track traffic flowing back. Am I allowed to use affiliates links?

2) Why does the Warrior Forum convert 'some links' in to WarriorForum.com redirect links? Currently I am using direct linking to track activity, but direct linking can't be tracked as for some reason on some sections of the forum the links get converted to a WarriorForum.com redirect link and on others leaves the links alone so some are tracked some are not, so I am not getting an accurate picture of what is working and what is not working.

You can use tracking links for your own product, although keep in mind if it looks like a generic affiliate link, members will likely report it from time to time, and mods may delete if they think it's a link to someone else's product. So it kind of depends on what the link looks like to the casual observer.

For your other question, I'm not sure... but when you're writing a post, click on the link to BB Code in the lower left of the page, and it'll show you the correct formatting for URLs. If you use that you shouldn't have problems with the redirect thing.

      Hi Ken

Is it allowed to have affiliate links in posts in your own WSO thread?

      Best,

      Reno

I think this will devalue your own product a lot, and I think you won't be taken serious as a marketer. Just my thoughts though.

Since a WSO must be a product that you created, how would an affiliate link fit in?

You can use url shortners like bit.ly each unique link comes with the option to see statistics. Depends on what you would like to know. If you just want to see the clickthrough rate then the use bit.ly should be fine
