Be Aware Of New PAYPAL Scam Flooded These Days on Internet

Hello Warriors,

I just logged into my email and I was shock to see that Paypal asked me for MONEY REQUEST. Well not to mention Paypal is way richer and it usually don't ask for Money request that too for $5 [too less]. Well later I just Googled it and found that someone is playing prank and making money.

SO it is my duty to post on it here and avoid any such issues. PLEASE DON'T PAY EVEN A SINGLE PENNY TO THESE FRAUDS.

I'm attaching the screenshot how it look likes

Well you must see one thing on the screenshot is that the guy is havving @europe.com TLD but why will paypal use such. Instead it would have used @paypal.com

And another thing is there no yearly nor monthly nor quartely charge taken by Paypal nor anything mentioned on Paypal blog so be AWARE and don't loose your hard earned money.

Canda

It is very simple. They can take any e-mail(by renting e-mail list, jv partnering or other) and send them. Just imagine a list of emails from people who bought some staff from marketer. There are probably 80% would have paypal accounts. The rest 20% will think it is some mistake.

People must be more curious about this strange requests =)
Look: General Manager of PayPal have email on @europe.com =)

Kind of reminds me of those emails and messages growing up "Myspace is turning into a paid membership site". I even remember that all the way back when I got my first email address and I freaked out.

Sucks to think people will fall for this but they will, just let they do for nigerian bank fraud scams, it seems impossible to fall for some s#it like this for the experienced folks though and is quite funny reading some of their verbiage in the scams. Lately the ones I'm getting are actually perfect English - anyone else notice this new trend? Makes you wonder how long it'll take before they recruit topshelf marketers for top dollor for copy (read=it's already started).
I know, they're definitely improving the quality of their scam ventures, lol.

Paypal is an especially big target, and I've lost count of how many of these spoofing emails I've received. Craigslist is another one that's heavily targeted as well.

The key is to look very closely at the sender's email address - while they can spoof the "Paypal" name, they cannot utilize the domain, so unless you can see that the email is coming from xxxx@paypal.com, don't even click on any of the links within it. If you hover your cursor over the links, that'll be a dead giveaway as well, because they will never be able to use the paypal.com domain.

@ALL: You people might be surprised to know that the GUY sent me again the MONEY REQUEST behalf of Paypal Director, I sent him an Warning email and cancelled it again. Hope he doesn't send it. I think our paypal ID is leaked from WF forums. On most of places I drop my paypal ID and these scammers make note of these and start all these fraud activities.

Hey getting fake paypal emails and getting Paypal money request are 2 seperate things. Well sending fake paypal emails to 1000's of people at a time is not an issue. Any one can do that. Also you can send such email to thousands people at a time. BUT here I got a MONEY REQUEST FROM PAYPAL [disgusting]. Money request can be generated by entering the to paypal account and typing my paypal ID isn't..

Really this guy must be one with great mind. So be aware.

When I said fake email I'm including money requests too. They look very real! I always go directly to my PayPal account to see if there are any messages or outstanding invoices. I do feel that these emails are somehow related (indirectly) to the problem with Aweber earlier this year. No proof...just my gut feeling. My spam folder has never been the same.

Thanks for the heads up on this...

Best thing we ever did was buy the PayPal security key for $10...

Haven't had any problems with hacking into our account since...very nice.

They will send you 2 or more of them if you request it through your PayPal account...and we just keep them handy by the machines.

    Much better security now.

    Wow!

What a way to try strong arming people to pay them money. If this were a legitimate email sent by paypal, it would amount to legal blackmail.

Unfortunately, some people will ignore the obvious logic that the OP points out and just assume they have to pay to play, so to speak. I'm glad you're warning people who may otherwise just fork over their money without checking things out.

I know, the language used is so hilarious it's almost worth saving just for the novelty value alone...lol.

I've seen many excuses employed over the years, both with the Paypal and also Craigslist spoofs - apparently Craigslist accounts are now a really hot commodity, and people seem to be willing to send out mass spam just to hijack a few accounts!

This is a valid point - by responding to their e-mail you have confirmed that they have reached a legitimate PayPal customer. You'll undoubtedly be hearing from them in the future.

A bit off-topic, but I haven't been able to log into PayPal for about an hour now - anyone else having trouble getting in? Hopefully not another WikiLeaks-related DDOS attack!

Paypal is not asking you for money. There is a feature in Paypal where you can send a money request to any person if you know their Paypal ID. It looks like someone knows your Paypal ID and that is why you are getting requests from that person.

Just don't pay It. Try reporting that person to paypal.

Yes you are right. BUT I had no choice. I received the Money request for the second time so I had to WARN the person. I know that he might be have given my paypal id more value as it is of Live person but anyhow I will be careful that I don't hit "pay" button without checking who sent me.

I get a lot of these emails. I just spam them. Sadly, a lot of people fall for these emails.

This sort of reminds me of the emails years ago saying forward this email to 10 people and a coupon for free coke will magically appear on your screen, etc.

If PayPal was truly THAT bad off, they'd raise their fees even more.....

It's good to let people know about these things when we get them... there are still people that fall for these emails.

I just got one from desktopsupport9(at)gmail.com money request for $5.00

Here is how they get your paypal email address, they look for people doing business in webmaster forums, people that actually buy, then they get the emails from each other and send out money requests. It's against the paypal TOS to spam, so just send aup(at)paypal.com an email about it, and their paypal account will get limited.

I don't know why these people risk their accounts on crap like this.

This is not new and has been circulating for quite some time now. It may be a new scammer but the email actually looks identical to one that went around last year and the year before etc.

Remember paypal always says they will not send anything asking for personal information etc. in an email. I would think first of all that any serious requests or messages would be in your paypal account after you sign in.

There is also one that goes around asking you to verify your account again and I don't remember exactly what it was but similar, I just forwarded it to paypal but there really isn't much they can do to stop people from being gullible.

I used to try to drop ship on ebay and had someone send me a receipt that looked just like a paypal account that said the funds were in there but on hold til I shipped the merchandise and sent a tracking id.... I didn't have the merchandise but I wouldn't have fallen for that in any case but I know there are people who have and still do.

Never respond or send anything to these types of emails...

    That is the opening sentence.

Also would paypal ask everyone to pay them $5 err... I mean 5$ ?

They would integrate the $5 as a fee, or increase their fees by a small amount if they wanted more money from you.
