Changing Paypal default payment?

My Paypal account used to be verified to remove spending limits. I unverified the account when I discovered, to my horror, that Paypal does not allow you to set your credit card as the default payment method.

Paypal forces you to manually change the payment method to credit card every time you use Paypal for a purchase.

Here is an idea the forced Paypal to used my credit card.

Create a savings account at a local credit union for Paypal only. Keep 0$ funds in the savings account. Use this account to get verified with Paypal.

Since the savings account has no money; Paypal will automatically used my credit card for purchases.

Should this work?

  • I have a feeling they still try the account which if the accounts allows could take you over drawn. But then I guess the sort of account you suggest will not allow overdrafts so give it a try.

They will still use your account and no funds means over drafts! That's what they do to me, they do it 2 times so 2x's $35.00 in over draft's suck! *shrugs*

Why don't you just pay with your credit card?

Think about what you are saying! A few blogs and forums have suggested this bright idea for a couple years here and there. It's really DUMB when you think about it. You are saying you are too lazy to uncheck one box and check another when you make a purchase.

    You unverified your paypal account.

You want to make purchases using paypal without having to uncheck one box and check another box. If you use your credit card in a store - is it too much trouble to take the card out of your wallet?

So you will make a purchase and it will result every time in "insufficient funds" and then paypal will reprocess it against your credit card. How long before your account will be flagged as a "problem account"?

....and then you will come here crying "paypal froze my account for no reason".
