It's not the size of your list that matters. It's who is on it, what their purchasing habits are, and your relationship with them.

1000 freebie seakers or 100 serious buyers who have purchased before in the last 30 days ... what would you rather have?

i always recommend people to build their own list. By doing so they are interacting with the people who want info from you, as oppose to receiving lots of marketing from lots of companies/individuals.

You can build a list from many ways of marketing I suggest facebook/twitter and you tube if you feel confident shooting videos. Interact with your facebook followers, create/join groups create/like fan pages and you should see results.

I like selling an inexpensive ebook through affiliates, paying them as
much as 100%, and having them build my list for me.

That gives you a list of proven buyers, and you know exactly
what topic they are interested in.

I've used this method over and over again, and if you pay
attention to sales, you also quickly discover which affiliates can
    produce results.

It's best to build your list from scratch. Advertise, generate leads, and record those leads into your computer contacts. Keep leads updates, and stay close to the people on your list. If you advertise a service, people will call you, and over a matter of a few weeks you can have a list going. You might contact these people ever few months just to see if they need anything service at this time. They might say yes, and pay you more money, because you had done a great job for them before.

Now you can also buy a list, but you have to do a little bit more work. You will need to contact these people in a way that is not pushy or sales like. Possibly just give them a call and introduce who you are and give them some free information that will blow their mind. These people are strangers at this point and you want to convert them into friends. Friends that you can contact over time and offer your services to as mentioned above.

You choose the way you want to build your list, but yes them money is in the list.

I think that the money is actually in the relationships you build with the list. People who know like and trust you will buy from you.

So you want to offer good valuable content to the people on your list. You want them to know you care and that you aren't just trying to shove products down their throats every time you email them. You want them to see you really have their best interests at heart.

So when you start building a list, make sure that you over deliver on quality and value as far as your give away goes. Show people that you are in it to help them. Of course there will always be freebie seekers and people who don't want to opt-in, but this is the kind of mentality you need to build a good list.

I Highly encourage that you follow Scrofford's advice this type of thinking will get you to the top. (its exactly what my mentor taught me )

Keep Content at the highest value possible and word will spread. This way by keeping those on your list first you will be able to build a list of very loyal buyers!

*note: get the most out of list by asking them exactly what they want! Why go around the bush when you can ask those you'll be promoting to. That way you can create a product that fits the needs of your list making you considerate of there needs and make a lot of money at the same time
      Then rinse and repeat

Tell us how your list building works out =D

The money is in the TARGETED list. If your list is not targeted it may be worthless. You have to build a list of targeted subscribers who are interested in what you have to say and what you have to sell. That's the only way to maximize conversions with a list.

OK, I agree with EVERYONE here! The money is REALLY in the relationship you have with the PEOPLE on your list... But you're asking HOW to build a list...

I really like what Willie said about letting your affiliates build your list... That is probably the BEST advice you can get! It's definitely the EASIEST way! All you have to do is have something to offer people in exchange for their details...

So you need a decent product that you can sell for a very low price, in order to get BUYERS to subscribe to your list... Even if you just charge a measly 5 bucks for it, you'll know that they're buyers and you will rest assured that the relationship that you build with THOSE people will generate you MONEY.

I suggest creating a product yourself, or hiring someone to create a product for you & give you the rights to it, and doing what Willie up there suggested... And find some affiliates to start promoting your product for 100% commission. You'll have a list of buyers in no time!

Here are some ideas for some great products:

Interview Experts - asking a "dying to know" question
Software - using Ubot Software Creator
WP Plugin - from a cheap plugin designer
Write a Report/Manual - on some topics that you know inside & out (or hire someone)
Video Tutorial - on something you know really well how to do
Audio Recording - of your interviews or just you talking about whatever you know

(just as long as your product will save people time, money, and energy)

After you have the product, start networking with people here in the Warrior Forum, and get yourself some business partners.

And when your list starts building, follow up with your list everyday and make sure they really get to KNOW you... Host free webinars, share awesome stuff with them! Honor them! Admire them! They bought from you, so you need to treat them with the UTMOST respect & they will do the same for you!

    Easy stuff!

If there's anything I can help you with buddy, just let me know.

    ~Omar

Also look at your list as an asset. Google could take your ad down at anytime, your hosting company could close your account/crash/etc. Any number of things can happen to your business, website, PPC, etc but what will also remain is your list.

If you think about your list in this way, then yes treating them with respect and being thoughtful of them would be in YOUR best interest as an internet marketer.

The money is in the list = the money is in the pockets of the people on your list.

How do you build it? Offer extreme value.
How do you monetize it? Offer extreme value.

Extreme Value = offering products, goods, information your list can relate to, NEED and can ACTION to see results, regardless of the market you are in.

If you offer extreme value then over time people will trust you and if they see what you say works, they will buy from you over and over again.

If you offer crap, you will get crap responses from your list.

It really comes down to your relationship with your subscribers. You really have to build on that from the beginning and make sure you give them a lot of content. The content doesn't have to be great but if it helps them in any way then you've done what your suppose to do. You have to be active and show them lots of results of whatever you're doing with your blog. They want to be kept updated. Show them what's hot or what's not.

yes the money is in the list.

But that list of people are people right?

So I agree, if you treat you list like people and give them good stuff, you will get reward.

These dummy marketers...some in here in the WF, that just blast you with offer apon offer, that is just so annoying.....it might work short term...but after a while people will unsubscribe.

I use my content / sales formula. 70% content, and 30% plugging offer in your emails you are sending out to your list. That works a treat.

I'd go even one step beyond just the "relationship" with your list and say that truly knowing &understanding your niche's wants/desires/thoughts and then building a relationship according to that will do amazing things.

The best way in creating a list in my opinion is to offer a product of high value to your affiliates with 100% commission, by doing this it creates a hype for the affiliate due to the 100% commission but in exchange you will get targeted buyers added to your list from every sale that is generated, simple but very effective.

There's a great script available called $7 secrets that can have the whole process set up and automated another great benefit that also entices the affiliate to promote the product is the instant paid commission into the affiliates pay pal account no waiting around for there payment the script does it all for them.

Hope this helps you in your list building if you have any questions regards the setup please add me on skype and am more than willing to help

      Hey guys great advice!

I'd like to bump this in a little different direction if I could.

I notice most push a list to market to Internet marketers.

      But what about other niches?

I see the many WSO's on new techniques to make money using the IM niche. I don't have any new amazing secrets to share.
I always wonder where the ideas for the WSOs always come from.

Any thoughts on non-IM niches and list building?

      Thanks

      Keith
