If It's To Be...It's Up To ME

Lately (well, actually forever) there has been a lot of talk about shady
business practices on forums, off forums, wherever. You've heard them all,
from hidden forced continuity to brazenly having members pimp your products
through transparent NLP techniques even I could see through.

And we get angrier and angrier with each infraction and wonder why the
planet has gone to hell in a hand basket.

Well, if you don't like the state of the planet, the country you live in or
the forum you frequent, then it's up to YOU to change it.

If I want change, I have to bring it about. I have to do MY part to be the
best person that I can be and not lower myself to the level of the bottom
feeders and slime bags.

If we all do that...if we all walk the narrow path, then if nothing else, it
means less of the vermin that infects our lives. But once we cave in and
say, "What the heck? I'll promote his spammy product" or whatever they're
sucking us into, then we're just part of the problem.

It takes two people to make a problem. A drug dealer can't make any money
if he doesn't have addicts to sell to.

Well, a slimy IMer can't make money if nobody buys his slimy products or
accepts his slimy way of promotion.

If it's to be...it's up to ME.

In other words...unless you can't find a solution for the problem and become
a part of the solution, then bitching about the problem is as futile as
pouring lighter fluid on a burning home and expecting it to go out.

If it's to be...it's up to ME.

What you say is good in theory Steven....

However, for many of the new people both to marketing and to
the forum, they don't even realize when some of the "slimy" stuff
    is being done to them.

That fact has never been more apparent than in the last couple
of days, at least to me.

You two do make a good point, which is why it's even more our
responsibility to point out when somebody is crossing the line either by
reporting their post or by warning others about the implications of following
    the so called "advice."

Back in the days of my ancestors, they used to have something called
"citizens police." I don't know if they still do with all the new laws and
stuff, but back then, it worked. People looking out for each other.

Wouldn't mind seeing more of that today.

Good points. Peace in the world - begins at home!

But for the slimy scammers, what strategy would you propose for exposing them?
