Can you manually enter emails into aweber?

I have a fitness website and I'm getting a lot of forum registrations. When they create an account to access certain parts of the site, they have the option to opt in to a "product review" newsletter. In the process of registration, they also select their fitness goal (fat loss, bodybuilding, athletic conditioning etc.)

I was told that I should be sending out my emails with aweber. I'm not ready to start sending out my emails just yet. I'm at around 1,000 opt ins so I'm going until that list builds up a little more.

When I decide to pay for the aweber membership, will I be able to simply manually enter all the member information?

Thanks in advance.

From what I remember there's no way to do that, sorry.

The people who are already opted in to your list will have to re-opt to get into your aweber list.

    Why wait?

Just get it now and you'll have less people who you will lose on the way to transferring them over to your new list.

1,000 is quite a lot. You should be getting on this right away, while your subscribers are in heat - you're essentially leaving money on the table right now - to the tune of $1,000 per month if the dollar per subscriber per month ratio still holds true.

You're going to lose a lot of those subscribers now too by the sounds of things, by trying to save a little on Aweber (I assume). While if you had got Aweber in the first place to start buliding your list, and used it from the get go, you could have paid it off for a couple of years already.

You need to get on this pronto.

You can manually enter email addresses into Aweber. But when you add those people they will be sent a confirmation email to be added to your list. This is known as double opt-in, like Justin mentioned.

Those emails are easily ignored, especially if they don't know who is sending them and those leads may never be verified and you won't be able to utilize them.

Aweber is a great service and well worth the monthly membership. There are lots of features and it can do so much for your business. I wouldn't wait for your list to get bigger, it will only make it tougher to get those people in your system. I recommend going ahead and getting it asap.

As far as adding your current list, beside adding them one by one and hoping they verify I don't know any other way of doing it. It would be nice to hear from someone with some more experience with the service. Wish I could be more helpful. Good luck.

As far as I know, you can add the email addresses -- you might want to let aweber know you're adding a thousand. (I've only ever added a single person at a time to any of my lists, so I haven't explored aweber's Help files on adding big numbers of email addresses.)

Then once they get the "click to confirm your subscription" email from aweber, they're loaded into your new list.

Get your subscribers ready for the aweber move; let them know what you're doing and why they should sign up.

It should all go very smoothly for you.

    Cheers

Yes, you can add your list of existing subscribers to AWeber. Just click on the "Leads" tab, then click "Import" under that. Here's what AWeber says about importing your list of email addresses:

    Import Leads:
All imported leads must be verified before they will be added to your
mailing list. Within minutes of being imported a notice will be sent to the
lead asking them to verify that they did indeed request to be on the
mailing list. Once verified they will immediately be added to your
account and visible for email delivery. Learn about the many benefits of
using verified opt-in, "Study: Verified Opt-in Reduces Unsubscribes &
    Complaints."

You're going to lose some of your thousand subscribers - anywhere from 20% up to 08%. If you wait, you'll be losing 20-80% of 2,000 or 3,000 subscribers. Best to bite the bullet and get it done right now. You'll lose fewer people that way.

And to minimize the number who don't opt in to the new list, you should offer something really juicy and irresistable to them as a strong inducement to click that optin link. Don't just toss them an old, worn out report. Hold a good teleseminar, or record an interview with an expert in your field, or find something they'll really, really want. Wave that in front of them, and then tell them they can't have it -- unless they take three seconds to click the link. Offering something desirable, building it up, then taking it away is psychologically very powerful.

You won't get 100%, but you can get many of the ones who are still actively interested in the niche you're in.

Good luck with it, Muay Thai.

Hmm.. this is certainly bad news.
But I'm def. glad I found out now sooner than later ..

The registration on my site right now is tied into the forum..

    Here's my sign up page

    The Fitness Blueprint -

Is it a pretty easy task to switch it around so the new registrations go straight to aweber?

How long will it take for someone to do?

Asking because I need to know how much to pay my web designer.
I'm so clueless as to how long these things take.

I imported a list into GetResponse recently. It was seamless.
They received no "opt-in" message. GR was very co-operative
and handled it on a case-by-case basis.

I do single opt-in generally and have never had any problems.

if you already have an opt-in form on your web site, it's very quick and easy for your web designer to replace the old form with a new one.

Every autoresponder service has a feature where you "create a new list" and once it's named and created, you can then click to get an html opt-in form for the new list. You copy the html code and paste it into your text editor, then email it to your web guy. It won't take him more than 10-15 minutes to insert the new form into your page, so the charge should be very reasonable.

    Good luck with it.
