Where the heck is my RSS feed? (Atahualpa theme)

So I have the Atahualpa theme on WP and can't find the RSS feed url. I know that the RSS widget is available.

Am I right in thinking it's "mandatory" for SEO? And that I should be doing something with it?

Well, first I have to get it working. And to that end, how do I do so? I can't figure out the url for it.

I've tried, "www.mysite.com/feed/" but no go. Thoughts?

    1. The URL you posted will work only if you set your permalinks other than the default.

    2. The RSS widget is for displaying feeds from other blogs on your site

    3. WP doesn't recommend to do anything with your feed... but they are not marketers. Marketers recommend to submit your feeds to RSS aggregators.

    Thanks Istvan.

Does this mean I want the little orange button on my site? When I pinged my site before, "Feedburner" couldn't find my feed and I thought that had something to do with it.

I've changed my permalinks thus: "mysite.com/postname". When I check out the link you gave me, I'm not sure which RSS version I have.

I'm sure I'm all over the map here. So to help you not shake your head too much, what I'm looking for over all is to be as "SEO friendly" as possible, allow others to find me better, keep others (search engines and people) informed of changes, and see how my RSS feed plays into those tasks if at all.

So...I may be barking up the wrong tree as well.

You probably want to orange gizmo...

RSS2 is the standard - although WP provides the other feeds for different types of feed readers.

Do you mean you set up your feeds at feedburner? Or just tried to?

Unfortunately, for the "SEO" questions I am not the best person to provide you with answers. I am, most likely, the worst... since I don't really care and I don't plan to learn about it. Sorry.

LOL. Thanks Istvan. If YOU don't care about it that much, maybe I shouldn't either.

I haven't tried to sign up for feedburner...so that's something I'll worry about later. But yeah, I want the orange gizmo.

Gotta get the widget going, but I need the url.

Thanks again for your help. I've followed your posts. Your knowledge of all things WP and more blow my mind. Yeah, maybe I'm jealous.

(On the other hand, can you deal flawless seconds and bottoms, stack a cold deck in three maybe two "blind" shuffles and deal any hand called for? Hehe...actually, please don't say you can. I'd be totally crushed.)

(No, I don't know all that stuff... )

Well, just because I don't care it doesn't mean you shouldn't. I know WP but I don't know SEO. And what is commonly sold around here as SEO "expertize" - I don't want to learn. However, it's a personal choice... not a marketing advice to you

Again, the standard WP widget called RSS is NOT for displaying your feeds! (I am saying it the second time...) - It is used to display feeds from other blogs. Which means you don't "Gotta get the widget going"

I don't think a theme can kill your widgets - but it's worth a try: switch to the default theme and see if you can discover your feeds...

No probably won't kill 'em but dang it if they don't get removed sometimes! If you switch your theme and the widgets don't go back, look under the non active ones. They will be saved there. It's been awhile since I played with Atahualpa but with so many different places to put widgets, it can be a lot of work putting them back in place.

Nathan, look at your source code. Many of the themes will have the feed URL listed in the head.

Submit your RSS feeds to aggregators. This will build your site's authority and hopefully give you traffic.
