    Two quick thoughts.

Interesting how "Buy A Product" is fairly high on every age groups list.
    "Boomers" are buyers!

Noticing the complete absence of the activity "watch porn" in the results, I'm wondering just how much credibility we should attach to the survey.

I'm surprised that they didn't include business activities.

Survey's like this always leave a lot to be desired, but I think that is by design; as only polling 2500 people can't really give an "accurate" picture of say 500 million FB users.

They're only supposed to be used as a 'guide'; just like any other statistical and/or demographic breakdown.

Although, one can logically deem what might follow from said "base" knowledge. Like... I was watching the show, "Mad Money", the other night and dude gave a very "outside of the box" way in which he determined job market numbers.

He looked at (for example) staffing companies, temp agencies and payroll companies to determine the real direction the job market is going; as opposed to relying on the labor reports.

His argument being that labor reports give us data that is "old"; while his approach gave data that is "real time". Makes sense...

All that being said to comment on your statement that "business activity" isn't mentioned. If we use the kind of approach that 'Mad Money' guy used to determine job market numbers... we can safely assume that those who "bank online" and/or "buy a product" might also be comfortable and/or savvy enough to be involved in "business activity", as well.

              Just a thought

Just to clarify for those who read the headline, but don't study the chart...

WRITING blogs is on the decline (accd'ng to this study, anyway). But READING them is actually on the *increase*.

These two things combine to make blogging an ever-more effective method of getting your message across. Again, assuming the study proves reliable.

I would attribute this assumption to interpretation; as the way I see it both reading AND writing are on the decline... due to Twitter & FaceBook; (and I think the actual article eludes to the same..).

Although, it seems to me that since FaceBook makes it apparently easy to connect one's blog to their FB page and/or Wall... deftly using blogs as an extension to your FB presence is the direction that makes the most logical sense.

      ...all theory, of course

Besides email, the top segments are all about acquiring information. Still the Internet's primary purpose is gaining valuable information, and if the information is valuable enough, people will buy it.
