Allen Says : Reprint Rights vs Affiliate Program

I've been reading a few of Bryan Kumar and Allen Says stuff in the last day and am just looking for some clarification and/or opinions.

The potential of Reprints Rights is always talked about by them, so I was wondering whether someone could give a quick pros and cons of each, as it seems to me that having an Affiliate program trumps reprint rights every time. When do they (if at any time) don't

Or like Allen said, should one incorporate both thus creating two products ( if so, how come none of the main products on CB don't do this?)

The whole reprints rights vs affiliate program is just something that has me stumped a little.

NOTE: This post comes after the threads in My Ideas Strategies and Plans, Private Posts 1, Instant Cash Machines, Money & Power, Unlimited Profits and Traffic

I would never do a reprint rights for any report or ebook I am selling.

Reprint rights are fine with article marketing.

But when I am selling a product, Affiliate Marketing is the preferred method, because I get to retain control over the product - if it is a paid product.

If I have a free product, I have zero problem with reprint rights.

Its smart to turn an old affiliate product into a reprint rights product once a newer version of the original is being released; just to squeeze that last bit of revenue out of it.

It can, (in an obscure way), possibly enhance you're marketing of the newer version by incorporating the newly formed affiliate program of the new version into the reprint rights version... daisy chain

That's the way I've always looked at the life of a product. Affiliate program, then resell rights, then private label rights.

Ya I agree, holding on to some control is always best plus you can see who are your affiliates and you get more statistics that can better help you market it.

Say so I've a Dating Product selling on clickbank which caters (oddly enough) for people wanting dating tips and what not.

What's wrong then with at the same time offering reprint prints, as you are here also targeting a hungry crowd?

Not sure you should have posted this like this as most reading the thread will not have a clue what I actually said or how I said it. Plus, some of the material you mention is over 100 years old in Internet time...

And for some who look between the lines on those dusty pages now covered in the cob webs of time, it still sparkles with many hidden golden nuggets.

Nonetheless, I think we would all love a penny for your thoughts :-)

So am I right in surmising that in this of age, reprints rights have been superceded by those who offer 100% of the profits to their affiliates (who help build their buyers list)

Reprint Rights work if you allow the users to sell them for 100% profit. The goal is to leverage on your affiliates to drive traffic to your website so that you have a backend products to sell to. Besides, it's always easier to market to those who already bought your product (reprint rights).

I have seen marketers offer both reprint rights and original product on the same sales page. Might want to give it a try.
