65 page ebook in the fitness niche - What path to go. Need help!!!!

Hey Warriors,

I would just like to introduce myself first, my name is Sean and working out has been a lifestyle for me for over the past 10 Years. I have transformed my body while managing to add 50lbs. to my frame while maintaining a low body fat percentage.

I have written a 65 page ebook that I actually gave away to some of my clients that I have trained over the past few years as a side job. I wanted to give everyone a great understanding of what it takes to build and maintain muscle throughout a busy schedule and lifestyle before starting this dedicated hobbie.

1. One of my questions is, should I set up a website and sell this? Im just worried that the niche is too competitive for a small ebook and keeping in mind that I have never set up a website before and would need some help with that.

2. Should I sell this through a fitness forum in the buy, sell, trade section?

3. Selling this on Warrior Forum for people in the fitness niche as a bonus to add to their product?

I understand that creating your own product is a great way to make a passive income online, but I am just a newbie to all of this and I am not sure about where to begin or what path to take.

Please any help would be great.

Thanks,

Sean

Sean I started out online in a similar way...I had an ebook and wanted to see if I could sell it. I set up a blog and a sales page and submitted the ebook to ClickBank.

From ClickBank I had a decent amount of affiliates promoting the ebook for me and with basic niche marketing from my blog I funneled traffic to the sales page. I also set up a squeeze page and gave away a free report and built up quite a good list of subscribers that I could then market to via email. It's the easiest money I've ever made. (I've since sold the business.)

Your niche is competitive but you can narrow down and find your own slice of the pie.

Creating a blog isn't hard, here are two free ebooks that show you the basics:
    Create A Blog
    Setting Your Blog Foundations

There is no reason why you can't sell the ebook via ClickBank as well as forums etc. I would keep rights exclusive to you.

I wrote an article about becoming an ebook author recently too that might interest you.

Hope that helps...if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

    Good luck with it.

To be 100% honest with you, it's going to be tough. Everything is possible if you are willing to put the time and dedication into it.. If this is something where you just want to throw it up online just because you can, and don't really care to make it an explosive or even moderately successful product, I would suggest selling it to other warriors. That route is going to be 1,000 times faster and 1,000 times easier. The money in the long run won't be as much, but pretty much my thought's: You'll either need to pay someone to set everything up for you and be prepared to simply learn and go by trial and error for 2 months strong, or be prepared to do everything on your own and possibly spend 4 to 5 months of your life before you get 1 sale, tweaking and getting everything right, if you've never set anything up online before.

Those are your 2 options and I'm sure you'll do what's best for your situation.

Invest about $1000 to hire someone that can develop your site.
Then Hire an Affiliate manager. Just pay him a %

Let me ask you this... Could you set up a simple squeeze page? Because that'd be the first step I'd advise you to take. But as far as selling it goes, you'd probably have to hire someone to write a good sales copy for you. I'm pretty sure you would have to do that in order to become successful on Clickbank as well, because affiliates aren't going to want to promote crappy sales pages.

Just to get started making money you could sell this on Fiverr. I know, it doesn't seem like a lot of money but it's better than nothing. And who knows, it could go viral if it's a good enough product. Which it sounds like it is.

    Nonetheless, good luck.

Just throwing it up online probably isn't gonna be the greatest idea if you want to make good money with it. If $30 bucks here & there is all you want ... sure it might work.

If you wanna make decent money with it, my best recommendation is to learn how to make a squeeze page to get people's email addresses as well as a sales page (or pay to have them made).

THEN ... study and emulate how these guys are marketing in the fitness niche:

      Zach Even-Esh

      Jason Ferrugia

      Mike Geary

      Craig Ballantyne

      Vince DelMonte

      Rusty Moore

Those guys are doing awesome, they have killer content & programs, and some of them are doing some things that you just don't see in the "IM" niche.

Thanks everyone for all the replies so far. I know just putting something online isn't gonna make you money I want to learn and I am willing to put in the time. Looks like squeeze pages, sales copies and a good website and a few months is what I need to do. Thanks everyone. Anyone else feel free to throw your idea out.

If I was you I'd look at Clickbank and look at the sort of support some of the top product owners give to thier affiliates, I think if your product is good enough there is probably alot of potential to get it promoted through a site like clikbank, but you would need to create a very good sales page, maybe give your affiliates ideas of where to promote it and advice on keywords.

Check out Mike Gearys abs program that is a very good example of how a product owner gives its affiliates very high levels of support.

As for me,I would recommend you sell it as a WSO,make some cash and move on.You cant tell how much you will make if you do it well as a WSO.To me it is the easiest and fastest way to make money on any quality product.People are doing it seriously. And I would go that lane soonest.

    Just do it well.

Dude, Ive been training now for 15 years and put on almost 50kg, which Im not sure what that equates to in pounds? 90 pounds??

My suggestion is this....keep it simple.

Learn the basics of IM. Avoid the hype, and stay away from "the noise"

Put up a basic turnkey site, perhaps use wordpress (FREE), register a keyword rich domain ($7), write some keyword focused articles onsite (outsource or do them yourself), build backlinks, and most importantly of all.

    LEARN PROPER KEYWORD RESEARCH.

You can have your site up, plugged into clickbank, be selling your ebook for a small fee, and making money with an investment of just a few dollars and a bit of your time.

These words should be emblazoned on the first page of every IM ebook/book/website/forum/blog/etc ever created.

As you can probably tell from some of the other responses - you have two paths you can take here:

        1. Sell your information immmediately to all of those who are already doing business in this niche by offering your material as licensed content - resell, PLR, private sale, etc.. With some of the big players in this niche, you could be the "back-end" to someone else's already established front-end supplying content.

        2. OR -- you may want to become a front-line player where you build your own list, your own online presence, your own affiliate base and your own group of products. Obviously this will take more work and perhaps a little longer, but results in a cookie cutter approach that you can use to roll out product and after product and continually earn money from your list -- it also builds you a business with equity that you could sell in the future should you have/want to

I would not at all be worried about competition - having helped hundreds of information publishers, I can tell you that competition is MUCH better than nobody playing in your field.

What will be critical to your success is...

        1. Clearly hitting the online audience with the emotional triggers (product title, headline, sales copy) of why people desparately want to become lean, add muscle and lower body fat...there are a few different directions you can go there (fat burning, muscle building, health, etc...) you need to clearly decide on one and then...

        2. Create a SYSTEM that helps to differentiate what you have to offer from the competition. Sounds like you already know what it takes and have the proof which is great, but you have to have a simple way to explain to people why your approach is different OR at least simpler or more effective

        3. Learn the in's and out's of internet marketing. Keyword research is definitely a part of it, but so is knowing what to DO to most effectively target the keywords you identify as the sweet spot AND learning the basics of affiliate marketing will be important in this space as there are tons of big list holders and channels to market that love to promote hot products in this niche. Literally some of them will spend thousands and thousands of dollars each month advertising if they know your product will sell. To that end, it is likely worth working with a copywriter (if not having them write your sales page entirely, at least have them critique it which often costs less) so that you shorten your path to higher conversions and can move to an active, thriving affiliate model sooner

There are a lot of really good suggestions, here is one more.

Contact some of the guys that are already in the niche and try to get
          your ebook into their stream.

They can help you market it, they will take a cut but that's the biz.
Checkout the bodyweightcoach.com guys. They have a great following and
seem to have several "partners" with lots of good content.

There are obviously lots of other people in the fitness niche like the guy above. Talk to him and others to partner up.

I really like the advice to Keep it Simple.

When I see someone with a product they have created in an extremely competitive niche I immediately think Web 2.0.

If I were in your shoes I would go blog, youtube and twitter.

Perfect example: Search for charliejames1975 on youtube.

Building your brand, which is "You" in this case, would be the wisest investment you could make. Not only will it allow you to sell your ebook, but you will be building customer loyalty for future product creation or even promoting affiliate offers yourself!

Build yourself a blog and then get active on Yahoo Answers and on fitness forums and see what sort of questions people are really asking. Now you have your near limitless source of content creation. Collect these recurring questions and craft quality 500 word articles to post on your blog. Now, when you see these questions asked again in these places, you can post a short helpful and reply and include a link to your blog post(<---Targeted Traffic!).

As you find things that you could better illustrate through video, start making them and posting to your youtube channel where you will then post to your blog as well.

Setting up an opt in list on your blog is easy and you can search the forum to find all you need to figure out how to do it. Be sure to offer incentive to your visitors to sign up though.

Go ahead and make your product available on clickbank and develop promo tools for your affiliates, keep in mind unless your product gets picked up by someone who has a huge weight loss list, I wouldn't be expecting much. You gravity is going to be zero and you will be competing with other products that have more to offer in the way of profits to affiliates.

Joint Ventures could work for you as well, but understand that finding list owners are going charge a princely sum for the privilege. If I were to go this route, I would offer the list owner 100% of the profits, but you MUST send them through a squeeze page so you can then build your list. I doubt this would be ideal method for you currently as you only have the one product to offer.

Anyhow, hope this helps a little and good luck!

Keep your plan simple. I'd sell your e-book on Clickbank for starters. That'll take care of all the peripheral stuff like affiliates, payments etc.

If you aren't happy with the results of selling it on CB then put up a blog and a squeeze page and give it away as a special report. This'll build your list which will end up being a much more valuable asset than your e-book You can then sell fitness related products and services to that list. Plenty to choose from on ClickBank.

@ramone first thanks for the help, although I don't have that much experience I did target a keyword that gets approx. 9000 exact global monthly searches, so I know what my first page competition sites look like for backlinks. I know buying keywords is very important so that was also in the process of the creation.

      Okay dude.

Now check that keyword in Google using allintitle:<your keyword>

If you get results above 2,000 its going to be a tough slog. Anything under 500 is a walk in the park.
