Is google dropping PR?

PR hasn't been updated for 9 months now (the last time was beginning of April). What do you think is going on? Has anyone heard anything about the plans of google about PR?

There are a lot of people claiming that PR is responsible for big part of the manipulation and spam of the link graph, so they might just have decided to drop it altogether?

Personally I don't believe it, but would like to hear more opinions

p.s.
Do we have anything else and as close as MozRank out there?

Yeah, I've been waiting for the next PR update.. However, my PR on my sites haven't dropped YET.. I just keep on building backlinks to it to maintain its rankings..

Didn't Google remove PR from their toolbar. I believe I have heard that Google folks are advising not to not pay too much attention to PR, at least one guru the Link Liberation guy says to ignore PR while making backlinks.

I suspect Google may no longer use PR in house, their raking methods may have moved beyond referencing a static rank factor.

Google is placing more emphasis on location based searches through Google Places and Maps. I haven't heard any major announcements about PR changes to their algorithms.

I don't think Google is going to remove PR algorithm. But still no confirmation from Google about PR future.

I also think and hope that they won't drop it, but why they are not updating it for 9 months now?
Has anyone heard when they might update it and why they haven't so long?

People use PR to manipulate search engine rankings which, of course, google does not want. So, if you were them, wouldn't you stop displaying it to the masses?

I'm a weird example of PR: my website is on #1 position for a year, high traffic and my PR its 0

PR actually has nothing to do with your position in the SERPS for a particular keyword. That has to do with the other pages competing for that same keyword. Having said that, since PR has not been updated for 9 month, you actually could be a much higher PR and not realize it.

    Who knows?

As said already, the Google TOOLBAR Page Rank means nothing for rankings, it's just a snapshot of Page Rank at that exact time, which is now 9 months ago.

The problem is of course that most webmasters still only go by Page Rank, which makes it harder to make them do a linkswap with a site that didn't have PR 9 months ago.

I have sites that have been Pr0 Yet been sitting on First page of Google for a long time. Just concentrate on the site it's self i beleive because Pagerank now is a factor to concider when your site has valuable Infomation and people/Unique Visitors Keep coming back to it deeming the Site worthy in the end "long-term run" For page ranking.

Since many sites like Adsense made Affilates sites,Xumer type programs and black-hat ideas try to mimick google page rank in the serps i beleive Google is looking for more content and site display/Pageload times of websites because Google knows if you have a site that takes ages to show due to videos,The Visitors will never come back and go elsewere.

In Fairness Google is looking more now for value in websites i beleive.

Let's stick to the topic, which is why PR hasn't updated for 9 months and what's going on instead of going the typical "PR is useless" direction and SEO advices.

I think they may have stopped showing us the assigned PageRank in the toolbar, BUT that is not to say they don't calculate it and use it as a factor for ranking.
