Well even if you're using PPC (especially with Google), you'll need a reasonable amount of content on your site so as not to get slapped to hell with a bad quality score.

And if you were thinking of driving non-article / SEO traffic to an opt-in, you'll have to send more than just promotional emails, I think, to see any great success. That means even if you're not publishing articles on your sites and/or in article directories, you're still going to have to write something that approaches an article (or a series of articles) to send out your list, in order to garner their interest, add value, build trust and ultimately make sales.

I'm afraid whichever way you look at it, without delivering some sort of content (thus "articles"), you're not going to get too far no matter your traffic-generating approach.

I agree with you,it seems that articles are inevitable in online marketing.

Well of course there's always something else, but why not go for the jugular with proven traffic sources like PPC and media buys? There's no faster way to scale.

It's like a rock star saying "I know I have this limited edition Strat on stage here, but I'd rather just play my $50 dollar ukulele."

You still need to think of something to talk about / demonstrate - and that's basically just the same as writing an article.

Your posts are basically just articles, but written more conversationally. (Actually, some professional article marketers use their forum posts as a basis for writing articles.)

Which is basically using AdWords (PPC), and so the same rules apply. You need content/articles.

Again, unless you're exclusively sending promotional stuff (which won't be too effective), any other useful/valuable content you send them is basically an article. Just (in some cases) a relatively short one.

There are so many ways to promote your affiliate program without using articles marketing, but I must say that articles marketing is very effective in the long run. The are software out there that can help you promote, i.e. you could go to bikaisoftware for all your promotion needs. Other ways to promote your affiliate programs: press release, twitter, facebook, blogging, pinging, etc...

If your affiliate program has a reasonable conversion rate try advertising on targeted and high pr sites. You should test the conversion rate first.
