Google Local Questions

Ok so I don't have enough posts yet to respond in the other section regarding product reviews. I'm looking at the thread on google mobile local fusion. I know there's a ton of marketing hype behind it but I just want to know how to do the SEO part of it as opposed to using someone else's system.

I can SEO a website for a whole market based on google webmaster tools. For instance, one of our mortgage sites is SEOd for Canada only. However, I started a new roofing business that actually performs work locally within a few hundred miles.

1. What's the best way to optimize for google local and mobile?

2. Can I optimize for multiple google local/mobile locations ie. different cities?

Surely some good Warrior members must know how to do this already the SEO part without having to buy a $97 course.

Yellow page listings and other LOCAL directories help target your listings to the local area.

Yelp and other customer review sites will help you increase your rankings.

Thanks. However, I would think that there's more to ranking locally than just getting listed in the yellow pages for a particular city. Lots of sites are listed in the yellow pages that don't have any local ranking.

I have a link on my site - internetmadmen.com/immchecklist.pdf - where I put links to local online "yellow pages", free blog hosts, article directories, and other places to post your business profiles. It's not all the resources I use, but it's free and enough for most people.

Also, learn what you can about Google Places/Citations.
