Information overload - My plan, any suggestions

Hello everyone

I have collected so much information. I bookmarked like 100 pages, downloaded a lot of ebooks and stuff. But just as any other noob I am overloaded with info. Luckily I organized all my IM downloads and bookmarks in a folder like:

Code:
IMDirectory
 - Research
 - Create the site
 - Get traffic
    - SEO
    - Facebook
    - Articles
    - etc
I think you get the point. Well my plan was to first read a guide about Research and then write a summary about it on paper. I want to do that for every guide so I have an overview. After that I am just going to look what I have written down and make my "own method".

Does anybody think this is ok or do you have any better ideas?

Thanks in advance!
IMNoob

Let me ask you this...If you already have a fundamental of basic internet marketing concepts, meaning you know what affiliate marketing is compared to product creation. And you know the difference between SEO, PPC along with the pros and cons of paid traffic vs free traffic.

I would take a step back and do this...

Ask your self, what internet marketing business model feels right to me? Now when you ask your self this, don't get get tripped up by fear like thoughts. Such as I can't afford paid traffic, I'm not a expert, etc. Just answer the question as if you knew you would succeed at what ever you tried, what mattered most was you really wanted to do.

If you have a clear answer and a good idea of what you'd like to do (not what you think you can do) create a plan based around that. Screw learning about subjects your not going to use.

In internet marketing, many times the more you know works against you. What you want is clarity in what you want to do in order to move in that direction with real action. It doesn't have to be precise or correct action, what matters is clarity in direction, taking action and avoidance of distractions.

From my own personal experience, the more you learn and immerse yourself, the harder it can be to actually do this. If I could get paid to spend my time learning shi*t I'd be richer then Bill Gates...

    Hope this helps.

  • Thanks for the reply! Well I am still learning the basics. I just want to read everything and then if it is useful add it to "my method". And I already tried to look to business models but they way I want to make money is more through a file uploading site. I know it sounds weird but atm it is the only thing I can do.

    Thanks for your reply!

Just keep learning all you can. Once you feel like you are ready to start your own online business than go for it. You will have the basic knowledge it takes to make at least some extra money. Then you just build off of what is working and what is not.

I think you are on the right path as far as taking in as much info as you can but to a point. If you have the fundamentals of Internet marketing down than why not start your own blog? Write articles? Submit press releases? Etc... Etc... And concentrate on building a legitimate online business.

Then in between your to do lists keep learning as much as you can. You will get better and better as time goes on.

Educate yourself as much as possible this is a continuous thing. Internet marketing changes almost daily. Build your business, start an email list down the line. The sooner the better. Monetize your websites, or blogs. Drive as much targeted traffic to them as possible.

That is what building a real business is all about. Oh, and good luck you seem to have the right attitude.

Hahaha, you are right. It is all about action, but I admit reading and learning is much easier than put something into action.

      Thanks,

        Your organization plan is good.

My suggestion would be to get a different name in the forum unless you really want to think of yourself as a noob forever.

      I second this advice.

Take one strategy - or page, really - at a time and practice implementing it immediately. The quicker you become comfortable with failing the more you will adopt the entrepreneur's mindset.

Don't spend too much time studying. After reading once or twice begin practicing in the lab of life.

Start getting your street smarts today!

Your answer is in your post.

    I've collected so much information.

    Stop collecting, start acting.

Here is what you can do:

First, since you've already collected plenty, you can use or consume the info whenver you need to.

Start with a basic plan. Say you chose to create your product first.

Go through specific relevant info, learn and do.

Do not even think of reading or learning anything else meanwhile.

Once you are done, define your next step and repeat the above process.

So, say you want to create a squeeze page to give that product away, learn about squeeze pages and set that thing up. Then move on to the next topic.

    Hope it helps,
    Maddi
