Making A Godaddy Domain Work On Hostgator?

What I really have is a Domain Monster domain and I want to make it work with a Dreamhost website I have?

How do I do that?

I was told this is the best way to maintain site integrity - using separate domain and hosting companies. That is correct, no? Thank you.

Lookup the name server at Dreamhost, it's

    NS1.dreamhost.net
    NS2.dreamhost.net
    NS3.dreamhost.net

Enter them at Domain Monster, might under someihing like 'other name server'

Give it a day or so to propagate

Yeah never use your registrar as your webhost. Registrars are notoriously bad for being hosts. I register sites on Name Cheap.com and host them on Amerinoc.com

I would contact your registrar and ask them how you can have your name servers point to your host if you have no clue what to do.

Here is a tutorial video by hostgator that shows you step by step how to change your godaddy nameservers.

This is really simple to accomplish. Regardless of which domain registrar you're using, all you really need to do is configure your domain to point to the nameservers for your hosting provider (ask them if you're unsure of what this is).

You are definitely right about keeping hosting and registrar separate from each other.

Somewhere in your welcome email from your hosting company is the nameserver information that you need to add to your domain account at your registrar.

Then you need to make sure your domain is added at your host.

Add domain to host and change domain DNS settings to point to that host.
