(Tip) Submitting to Article Directories after your blog?

This is a tip for those who want to syndicate their article after it has been indexed on Google.

The reason to do this is that Google will see your blog as the first author and the other sites as syndication, and my theory is that Google will therefore give your site post more preference in the SERPs than the other copies on EZA, ArticlesBase etc., which is what you want.

Run this query in Google to see what has been indexed, then you can syndicate whatever is new in this view to your favourite directories.

site:yoursite.com/blog -site:www.yoursite.com/blog/tag -site:www.yoursite.com/blog/about/

Tip 2: - update your Google search options to show 100 results instead of 10 to reduce the number of times you need to click "Next" as your blog fills up.

This is an extremely nice tip Theemperor I never thought about it that way . But if you post an article on your blog and then submit it to Ezine wont it reject it for being duplicate content?

Not at all: EZA specifically invites and requests articles which authors have previously published on their own sites/blogs. And for the record it isn't actually "duplicate content" anyway, even if it's identical - contrary to what one would think, that isn't what "duplicate content" means (to search engines): it's "syndicated content".

EZA has never required "original" or "unique" content.

All explained in this thread. And a very good tip from TheEmperor.

No it is not duplicate content as has been explained here by Alexa and Kierkegaard so well.

The thread Alexa has pointed you to will explain all. What you are doing is sadly helping this myth to survive and no doubt lead to many people failing to make a dime in article marketing.

I can't understand how this 'duplicate content' thing with ezine won't die.

If you have an article on your blog/website and you submit it to ezine they will not reject it as duplicate content. If you don't believe this, ask them.

If someone takes your article from your blog and without your knowledge puts in on their blog without crediting you as the author - if you then submit this article to ezine they will not approve it. However, if you contact the person who stole your article and get them to either delete it or credit you as the author - ezine will accept the article. I have been in this situation so I know that ezine will not only accept an article that has been on my blog first but on someone else's blog second.

And if a Danish philosopher can't understand it, what chance does the average internet marketer have?!

Regarding EZA, it's just an urban myth that they don't accept articles already published elsewhere. It's never been true, but people think it is, because they imagine they understand the "reason" for it, which of course relates to this whole "duplicate content penalty" myth.

Partly it's the fact that, to the uninitiated, it sounds like having copies of exactly the same text on two different websites would be "duplicate content", because people just don't understand what the words "duplicate content" actually mean (i.e. to search engines).

And then of course there's a whole industry which has a vested financial interest in selling and promoting "spinning software", and they need people to believe that their products/services are needed to resolve a specific problem or difficulty. But that's internet marketing for you: many people make a living by selling solutions to "problems" that don't really exist.

And then there are all the people who've more or less been "brought up to believe in a 'duplicate content' 'penalty' ": they may have no financial incentive in it all being real, but they still have a sometimes huge emotional investment in "not being wrong about it". (And those are actually the trickiest people with whom to have to discuss it - because their motivation is concealed - sometimes even from themselves!).

And in forum discussions, there are always people who don't read the thread at all, but just look at the title and/or maybe the first post and then add their grossly overvalued two cents-worth on the end, producing some nonsense like "I'd advise you to spin it a bit to avoid the duplicate content penalty".

Difficult one. It's not going away any time soon!

Unless wielded with a degree of diligence and skill, article spinners will continue to fulfill their traditional role: choking article directories and endless spam blogs with unintelligible gibberish interspersed with a few keywords.

The role of the spinner sellers will also continue to be the same: to separate the marks from their money.

Please just read the thread Alexa pointed out. You will understand why you are wrong then. Sorry to sound rude but this comes up about 20 times a day and really is getting tedious.

If Google penalised this as though it was duplicate content, which its not, its syndicated, then why would EZA have a high PR. Better still how would any article directory be in business??

 Erm, I'd strongly urge you to have a look at the avatar of Alexa.

She's a she and if she was a man she'd be quite possibly the most effeminate one I've seen or will see, ever.

    I do it every time.

Re-purpose your content guys. Leverage your presence and save your time.

Helpful insight here, especially the piece about waiting for the blog post to be indexed. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the information. So one can submit their own original content previously posted on their blog to ezinearticles. What about submitting content that we've already posted to another article directory?

It's not a problem at all, as long as the name under which it was previously published is the same as the name (or pen-name) under which you submit it to EZA, so that they don't imagine you might have stolen it.

(If not, they may still publish it, but only after you satisfy them that you are in fact the rights-owner of the material, and doing so will cause a delay and it may even not be too easy to do.)

Wow this thread has totally burst one of my misconception bubbles about article marketing. I thought I'd have to rewrite articles for each directory I submit them to.

          Thanks!

Me too. Right now I'm digging through some of my old articles, blog posts, etc, seeing if I can either submit the whole thing or do a "salvage for parts" concept (steal an intro, take some bullet points but rewrite them).

Wow - eye opener on how to better spend my time! Very grateful to have read this.
