Hey good morning guys, I'm trying to upload my squeeze page to my server and I have freaking clue how to do it. I made it with Kompozer, I have my domain name and hosting I just don't know how to make it go live. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |

Two ways.. 1) Login to your hosting and go to your 'file manager' . You will see an upload option there.. first go to a directory where you want to upload, and secondly, just upload the files 2) download filezilla (a free ftp client). Enter your hosting's settings in the software and upload the files.. If you tell me from where you purchased your hosting, then I may be able to guide you better |

Hi Ari, Yep, you can either go to your host and upload the files from your computer, or you can set up FTP. Even though it seems a bit harder at first, take the time to set up your FTP and any future updates will go much quicker. All the best, Michael |

I'm with Michael on this one. Grab some free FTP software and get to grips with it. It's really not difficult. And in case you're wondering, FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol - the technical term for the method the software uses to 'talk' to your host's server when uploading your files. FTP software is probably the one most useful "techy" thing you can obtain and learn when you're in this business because you'll use it constantly. Cheers, Neil |

Another good free one is FileZilla. I have a Hostgator account and whilst I do have the advantage of having been doing this for years, it is pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Tim |

ok guy I guess my next question would be how do I publish my squeeze page so that when I go to my domain I see the squeeze page instead of the "index of: cgi-bin" does that make sense?

Ari When you log in to your site using your shiny new FTP software, look for a folder called "public_html" or sometimes "www". That's where your web pages go. Cheers, Neil |

Hostgator is good.. Just login to your cPanel, then click on the 'file manager'. Go to the directory 'public_html' Click on the upload button on the top and upload your squeeze page .. Rename it to index.html, or index.php (Whatever your page is.. ) And you're done... |

Kompozer will publish for you. Click on File and then Publish. You will need to enter the publishing information in the dialog box.

On your server you have folder public_html . When somebody write your domain name in browser search engine goes to public_html and look for file index.html Edit your squeeze page with, for example, Notepad ++ and save it with name index.html then transfer this index.html with Core FTP to your server. If You need any assistance contact me on Skype. I'll help you with this for free. CGI stands for common gateway interface. It is a script that you can run a webserver to do certain things. Because these scripts need to be executed, they are done, but in a scripts folder (cgi-bin). There are many times that there are passwords in those scripts, for example to connect to a database, a script may contain a username and password. So now, you can see the importance of keeping the cgi-bin secure. Common Gateway Interface Script files with extension .cgi (executable files) Executable script written in C or Perl; typically stored in the "cgi-bin" folder within a website directory on a Web server; can only be edited if it is not pre-compiled. I hope this will help you a bit. | |
