Tomorrow the FCC will try to gain more control of the whole internet in the U.S. What gives them the right and do they really need to regulate it? If it ain't broke, why fix it?

So I guess this doesn't concern anyone or cause anyone to think how it could affect internet marketing?

The FCC is always up to no good. I think we're all just biding our time until 2012.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

This has a profound effect on everyone, including those not even using the itnernet. With the whole recent Wikileaks incident, this motion to control the internet has just been sped up. Legislators have been trying to push similar bills for years now.

I sincerely hope that it does not pass. I don't want to have to worry about censoring myself on the internet.

I need the bullet points for dummies of what the FCC is trying to do.

The link is an opinion piece that doesn't have a lot of real information.

Since when does the Wall Street Journal feel it's appropriate to cut into my niche (opinion pieces that are lacking any real information)? Really, I've got that niche covered.

They want to make the internet almost tiered so kind of like cable you pay extra for movie channels, they want you to pay extra for better speed, content and websites with less ads or what not.

A lot of ISPs feel left out of the profits because a company like google makes tons of money off their service.

I understand it is opinion piece BUT the thing is that many different sites are posting something to this...I don't have the "bullet points" like you are looking for but I think it's important to be informed about this because it's just more control the U.S. government is trying to put on people.

Just because its an opinion doesn't mean it's not true...and yes just because it's an opinion doesn't mean it IS true also. But it doesn't surprise me that this is something our wonderful big brother government is into.

It's a pure opinion post for sure. Found it a rather dull read actually. Where were the points covered in which you said the FCC was up to no good?

    No arguments here.

I just didn't come away with knowing why what they are doing is bad, just that the author felt is was bad.

But it's a pretty safe bet that if the government is involved, it has EPIC FAIL stamped on it's forehead.

Well and not only that, but it also has MASS CONTROL stamped on it and it's just another way for the government to try to get their hands into everything within our private and business lives.

If this happens to the internet, I think it will open the door for all sorts of control put on internet marketers and it will hinder business.
