Matt Cutts on Twitter and Facebook

As I watch this video, I get the impression that Matt like Twitter more than Facebook (comment about uncrawlable pages for example). He also commented previously that he like Twitter, but doesn't use his facebook account.

Also interesting is the comment about reputation. You don't just go buying twitter followers, and auto-tweeting 100 links per day. You spend time writing things that are readable and build followers who also have a good reputation.

I think it is great that Warrior Forum offers social links for everyone just under their profile info next to each post. It makes it easier for us to work together.

Twitter rocks. The problem is that many marketers have no idea how to use it properly.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

Well then, enlighten us, Obe Wan keRinnert. I don't really get Twitter. I have an account, but it's woefully neglected because it just seems like everyone posts but no one reads or clicks links. I bet a lot of others agree. So c'mon, DISH IT RINNERT! Don't make me send the monkey.

I talk about Twitter in a fair amount of Twitter threads. No one listens to me though. It makes the monkeys so sad that sometimes they stop dancing.

You can use it just like email and reply to people, retweet interesting things you saw, and of course post links to content.

We get a lot of referrals daily and it is growing.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Twitter has a great search function with lots of options to fine tune the results at Advanced Twitter Search

Go to the search page and enter a topic that you would like to talk about.
You will see what people are already talking about on that topic. You can follow the active users and ask and answer questions.

You can share useful links related to your topic.

Others following the topic will start to follow you if you post good information. A lot of people will also auto follow you if you follow them.

Twitter is not really about direct sales but if you have a product or service that answers a question/problem. you can reply to people.

The cool thing is that people do not have to be following you to see your tweet. Every word in your tweet is searchable and a ton of people use search or desktop apps to follow subjects.

I have used this method to get almost 12,000 followers on Twitter.

I have been using both Facebook and Twitter to promote a blog competition that I was competing in -it was hit counter based, so i needed click-throughs. the stats I have to hand show that Twitter has a slight edge on click through rate over Facebook, but I admit I am talking about a limited data set. However, if I was to focus on just the one, I'd got for Twitter, maily for it's powerful search facility - I can trace any mention of a URL.
