This is my second guy now that I am frustrated with when outsourcing backlinks. I hired him to work for 2 hours a day and he only got 15 links done. At least the last guy I had could do 20 links in an hour.

Are there any good rules to follow when outsourcing on ODesk?

The best thing I can say from my experience is to do test runs with a lot of different people until you find the one that you like the best.

Also, try fiverr.com for cheap testing.

You mentioned 3wayslinks a while ago. Isn't that good enough for creating backlinks?

Hire 5 people at start. Give them a test job and see which one perform best. In most instances only 1-2 will actually do the job or no one, so always test small before hiring anyone.

I just started using oDesk for a project....They have a feed back record you can read to see how they did on past jobs. So far im happy with my guy and had to turn away others. I guess it just depends on the job. has you guy done backlinks before?

Yes and he's highly recommended and has high scores. That is why I hired him. I just think 15 links in 2 hours is a joke. Is it me?

One of the reasons I love using oDesk is that I can monitor exactly what my contractors are doing. AFI, in your case, you can see if your contractor is being productive or just milking the clock.

To get your contractor performance details, use the Work Diary feature in oDesk to monitor the productivity of your contractors.

It takes a screenshot of your contractor monitor every 10 minutes so you can see what they were doing. It also has an activity meter that shows you how much activity took place during that 10 minute period. It record the mouse clicks and keystrokes as activity. You can also get minute by minute mouse clicks and keystrokes counts.

One of the things I have my contractors do is record a memo every time the screenshot is taken, this gives me a better idea what they were doing.

Instead of letting workers go to you, you should go to them.

Look up exactly what you are looking for and find people that have 4.5 stars or higher and have over 500 hours experience.

Invite a few people to your job application and see who offers the best price. Contact them and see if they are going to be able to follow your rules.

BTW, I think that you should aim for someone that does 6-10 profile links an hour. My worker does 10 links an hour, which would be every 6 minutes. I would consider that very good.

Jennifer, this is excellent advice that you should implement to ensure that you get a higher quality of worker. Also, give several of them small test jobs first, and then take on only the best performer or two after they've completed their trial run.

The profile link rate that you're getting right now isn't too bad if the links are manually created. Of course, if they had software to assist them they could probably do it much faster, but since you're hiring people to do the job manually I think allocating 5-10 minutes per profile link is pretty acceptable, especially given the fact that forums can slow down during busy periods.

Try a fixed rate. See how that works out for you.

Odesk got some cheap workers. Did you hire a cheap one? You may have hired a "You get what you pay for" type person.
